Sorry, I’m asking how you evaluate prospects. Why would you draft Desnoyers? Seeing what you see, why would you project him as a top 7 prospect?
My first question for you is how often have you watched Desnoyers play??????. IMO his 200' game is exceptional for an 18 year old . His team made it to the Memorial cup . He was voted the MVP of the playoffs in his league . I would call this quite an impressive resume for an 18 year old player

Well I’m just a guy on a couch, so my bona fides are not so hot 🤣

I appreciate that he’s had an outstanding season, just trying to understand if he projects to be outstanding as an NHLer. I might just have a bias that I need to get over. Thanks for weighing in.

I am no expert but I think he has one of, if not the highest floor of any prospect . Some prospects certainly have higher ceilings . IMO a 10 year NHL career is a reasonable expectation for Desnoyers

I think there won't be much trading in the top 12 picks. Very little incentive for anyone to trade up, so very little opportunity to trade down.

Kind of wild the caliber of player the Penguins and Rangers are still going to get there at 11-12. The gap between that player and the player at #4 is just not THAT big. And good chances that players from the 5-12 range surpass the guys above.

Fun year!

You wouldn't trade #7 for a 25yr old whose averaged 35G/90P over the last 3 seasons? What are the odds that whoever you take a #7 reaches that level of production?

Robertson over the last 3 years is a top 15 producer in the NHL.....but you rather have a pick amd hope they turn out that good
I did not say that, I just think his contract is not what I want to be tied to. Someone suggested playing him with Middlestatd, how would that work, neither one are what I call physical. I understand the stats you are throwing out there impressive, but I just think he will not be the answer.

This team lacks high-end offensive talent. We were bottom 5 in goals scored last season. He's a 6'3 scoring winger, and a very good one. Is pastrnak physical? No, do you think he's not the answer? No, we think he's part of the solution.

Pasta is more physical than you want to give him credit for, I also believe you are thinking as Robertson is a quick fix, I would rather look at other options.

I wouldn't trade 7 for him either and no one was as high as I was on Robertson in his draft year than me. Just ask @DKH .

194 vs 219

That's the difference in hits between Pastrnak & Robertson over the last 3 years. So on average a difference of 8 hits.

I don't see Robertson as a quick fix. I see a 25yr old stud scoring winger that can be part of your core form the next 8 years. A guy whose gives you someone who can pop 40+ goals and 100pts. This team isn't rebuilding, theyre re-tooling. You can re-tool a hell of a lot quicker adding Robertson vs hoping maybe 5-6 from now (when Pastrnak's career in winding down) your #7OA pick is as productive as Robertson.

I'm curious as to hear why if you wouldn't mind. I've learned quite a bit from reading your work and chatting w/ you. So im curious what am I overlooking and not taking into consideration.

Game is changing and in a couple of years i think Robertson will have a tough time keeping up if the trend continues. Just my opinion.

People would rather wait 3 years for the #7 pick to hit 25 g and 60 points.

Why would Dallas do this?

Robertson is not even close to being Pasta, good player but not worth perusing and one question is why is Dallas moving on from him.
