NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th II

Sorry, I’m asking how you evaluate prospects. Why would you draft Desnoyers? Seeing what you see, why would you project him as a top 7 prospect?

Frondell and Martin voted toughest to play against.

They think Martin could go 4th. (OT: Utah has lots of skilled prospects already. Martin could be a unicorn and bring something they lack.)

Hagens up to 186 lbs.

McQueen looked healthy and strong at the pull up bar.

no one else is thinking theyll go defense at #7? Thats my prediction.

But on the forwards i read about them all. I didnt watch any of their games but i read about all of their playing styles from a lot of sources including here on this site and ive formulated my best case scenario player comp for each of the top 10 prospects (per tankathon)

1. Matthew Schaefer- zach werenski
2. Michael misa- mat barzal
3. Porter martone- patrick hornqvist
4. Caleb desnoyers- ryan johansen
5. James hagens- matt duchene
6. Anton frondell- anze kopitar
7. Jake o brien- bo horvat
8. Jackson smith- tj brodie
9. Victor eklund- joffrey lupul
10. Roger mcqueen- corey perry

Bonus defensemen
1. Radim mrtka- Jamie oleksiak
2. Kashawn aitcheson- matt dumba
3. Logan hensler- jacob slavin
I generally avoid doing comparisons but some of these seem way off to me.

Misa, Hagens confident about jump to League next season, prospects tell 'NHL Draft Class' podcast

Draft Class Podcast Misa Hagens split

Michael Misa and James Hagens, two of the top centers available for the 2025 NHL Draft, each believe they are ready to make the jump to the League next season.

"Ultimately, I think that's up to the NHL team that drafts me," Misa said on the latest "NHL Draft Class" podcast during the NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo. "I think we're going to figure out a plan for what best suits me. But I believe when I'm at my best, I put all the work in this summer, hopefully I will be ready to go next year in the NHL."

Misa (6-foot-1, 184 pounds) led the Ontario Hockey League this season with 134 points (62 goals, 72 assists) in 65 games for Saginaw and is No. 2 on NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of North American skaters.

Hagens (5-10, 177 pounds), No. 3 on the list, also believes he's ready after a freshman season that saw him finish with 37 points (11 goals, 26 assists) in 37 games at Boston College.

"I do believe I'm ready for the NHL," he said. "Growing up as a kid, it's your lifelong dream to play in the NHL and win a Stanley Cup one day. Just want that time to come soon, and I believe I'm NHL ready."

Misa also discussed the possibility of playing with his brother, Calgary Flames forward prospect Luke Misa, at Penn State University next season. Hagens, a Long Island native (Hauppauge), talked about his reaction to the New York Islanders winning the NHL Draft Lottery and having the No. 1 pick in the draft.

How do you evaluate the athleticism of prospects? Brain, speed, size, quickness, agility? My hot take is that Desnoyers is not athletic enough. I’ve been dying to get a response because I want to learn, but so far no one bit. My fear is that the Bruins see French Canadian two-way detailed player = cheat code Patrice Bergeron, while Desnoyers is very smart, but also physically weak, more of a latter year Jean Ratelle. I don’t want them to take Desnoyers. His shoulders are tiny, his bones look weak, his muscles don't look long, so how can he add muscle? Maybe his hips and legs are strong? Pull ups are the funny thing now, but how do you evaluate the athleticism of prospects?

Asking for a friend:
From 4:00 to 4:30. WTF is that reporter doing with his beard whiskers, eating them?

These are the comparables the players picked for themselves...

1. Matthew Schaefer - Miro Heiskenen
2. Michael Misa - Center version of Kucherov
5. James Hagens - "People see similarities to Jack Hughes"
7. Anton Frondell - Alexander Barkov
8. Jake O'Brien - Wyatt Johnston
9. Victor Eklund - Travis Konecny

Kinda like when they traded down and took Mark Stuart and left Zach Parisi, Ryan Getzlaf and Brent Burns on the table? Yeah that worked out really well.🤢
This is what I'm most concerned about. So many weird reaches like your example. I'm bracing myself for a letdown. If I end up not being disappointed, well then, BONUS!
The Bruins need so much, IQ, speed, passing or shooting acumen etc. Simply put we need players with skill across the board.
I'd prefer a Center with the #7 but then there are exceptions and some exceptionally talented guys that I hope that we're not disappointed in, even though I'm sure a good portion of us will be no matter who we end up picking.
I would love a do-over of 2015, having 3 picks this year.
The only way that could happen is to trade one of our core + Zacha and/or Geekie, + our 2nds this year, future picks, the latter of which IMO would be foolish and set the "reset" back 3-5 years (too long for Pasta to wait for reinforcements.

Joffrey Lupul played at 6’2 210. As odd as it is to pull out Joffrey Lupul as a comparison to literally anyone, having him as a comp for Eklund is pretty hilarious

I get Marchand vibes from Eklund. The dogged compete level, the ability to beat bigger guys in puck battles with his tenacity combined with high IQ and playmaking ability.

If Frondell has anything like the game that Barkov has the team that picks him will be very pleased.

Eklund should have said Brad Marchand just to mess with everyone
