NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th II

Not sure if it’s true or not but Bruins could be looking at Cole Reschny. It’s Instagram so take it for what it’s worth. Kind of a strange one. Too low to be the 7th pick, but seems too high to make it to their second round pick

“highly efficient passer in both open-ice and down-low, Reschny is a constant threat. He spaces the ice well, always positioned to be the link between two teammates and ready to catch, fake, and pass to a teammate in scoring position. A highly detailed player, he makes a lot of subtle plays to create dangerous offence, often through his proactive movement and rotations.”

Depending how the combine goes I wouldn't be shocked to see the following top 6 selections.
Schaefer
Misa
Martone
McQueen
Frondell
Martin

That would leave us Hagens, Desnoyer and Eklund to choose from. Who would you pick?
I will answer your question with most likely Hagens, but if the Bruins could get a signed Necas from Colorado, that is the route I would take

Well I’m known for my optimism

Will be up to him to continue his play from his final stint here, if he does, he’s in the line up. Bruins are weak on wing and they need speed and guys who can whip shots and make sneaky passes.

Who did he play with again, Zacha and…? Middlestat?

Don’t love middlestat long term but Lysell looked great with them
Middlestatd and Lysell should be moved, if possible, to strengthen this team

We have a trade to announce. Bruins trade 7th overall pick for ep40 30 percent cap retained by canucks. Whose in?
You have put the forbidden apple out there, but if I could get Necas, that is the route I would go. Your guy talent is obvious, but does the talent come, or the drama. Perfect world that I don't live in maybe we get both.

Necas is a play-making line driver which Is huge even from a wing

At the time of deal with Carolina he had ( prorated over 82 games)
48 GM (82)
16 G (27)
39 A (65)
55 PT (92)

He’s 26 and falls in line behind top Czech players according to my daughter: Krejci, Sobotka, Pastrnak, and Zacha

Colorado at 7 can get someone really really good who could be arriving as Nelson leaving at C one of Desnoyers, Frondell, O’Brien, McQueen, Martin.

I’d do it if Colorado ~ Bruins hell yah if Necas is signing extension

Never know how these kids flesh out.

I remember seeing Pasta at the airport in his rookie year. He was going to the IIHF U18. Talked with him a bit. Super nice kid, big surprise. Anyway, he was a stick. I actually couldn’t believe he played at such a competitive level. Thin as a rail.

To see him now?? Yikes. Big boy!
Because they told him what they wanted and went out and did it, he put the work in, a lesson Middlestatd , and Lysell should learn

I believe there's a very real fear out there that Necas has been winking at a few too many suitors. Or he might just be playing hard to get.

Still wouldn't trade quality for someone who hasn't made up their mind, with better teams doing the flirting.
I think he’s got one team and only one team on his mind and it’s the Bruins

I’ve never heard what you said so you got a link by all means - totally could be bang on just figured he wants to play with his guys

After sleeping on it, I’m liking McQueen more and more for our pick because of the singular quote about the doc saying his fracture was like a breaking your arm, it just heals stronger and you’ll never break it again. That was the worry all along.

We’ve discussed in recent months how it would be no surprise if McQueen ended up as a top 2 or 3 forward from this draft if healthy. He seems to have one of the higher floors, and one of the highest ceilings if I’m not mistaken. His size is nothing to sneeze at too. Good compete level, and a scouting report saying “effortless involvement” reads as a puck hound to me.
That is a interesting point, a break healing, disc would be different story.

If that's how the first 6 picks go.....I'm torn between O'Brien and Eklund

O'Brien fills a need for a good young center. He's got everything you want with a project frame, 200ft game, high IQ and leadership qualities. Feels like a mix stylistically of Krejci & Bergeron based on what I've read. Good young centers are hard to find and its tough to pass on one.

Eklund could end up being one of the most dynamic players in the draft when all is said and done. Doesn't have size, but he's got that dog in him. As he matures and add strength, he'll only become even more dangerous. I went back and looked and when drafted Pastrnak was 6'0/168lb. Pastrnak now is sitting at 6'0/200lb. Eklund isn't much smaller than Pastrnak when he was drafted and sits at 5'11/161lb. With the right training program, there is no reason he couldn't get up over 190lbs.

Same. I'm currently leaning towards Eklund right now.

I asked Gemini to create a trade proposal that saw Boston trading up from #7 to #2 and here's what it had:

Boston Receives
#2OA

San Jose Receives
#7OA

Lysell
Lohrei

What does everyone thing? Would you do this deal to draft Misa?

You have to realize the bad pr for Colorado if they end up with just the 7th for Rantanen. Even if they think Necas wants to leave in FA, they’ll keep him and hope he has a good year that not only makes him want to stay but also separates him from Rantanen on a pr level.

Just the 7 OA lol

I feel like 4OA is a lot more ottainable but maybe its not that big of a difference

Why not add why you are against it? ...Myself, I am trying to think about this deal from Bruins standpoint needing all the picks they can get,but this gets them the franchise centremen they covet .Lysell I could care less about giving up and Lohrei can be replaced by going hard after Gavrikov .If that fails you find another way, they have cap to spend .The sticking point is the unprotected 1st but hey ,the Bruins get Misa..I would do it if I were given opportunity ..Bruins have a pair of 1st rounders next year so they still pick in the 1st round.Anyways this is an AI thing or something anyhow and probably never ever happen but for this exact package I would pull trigger and get that franchise top line C.

I am against it because it is an overpay, and the Bruins aren’t in a position to be sending out multiple young cost controlled players plus picks for a trade up. I wouldn’t do the 7 and Lohrei for the 2 - I don’t care what some AI says or some value chart says, it’s not in our best interest to do that.

Do you want to double down or your mistake and take the chance Necas walks next season and now you have absolutely zippo for Rantanen.

Man, I was looking forward to the combine this week, but if you weren’t actively searching for information about it.. you wouldn’t even know it’s happening right now.

I just have no idea what’s going on over there. The NFL does the combine so well. Is NHL network even airing anything about the combine this week? I don’t see anything on the programming schedule.

Replace our 2026 first rounder with Toronto's or Florida's 2027 and I'm all in.

Misa is not just a potential first-line center; he's a potential franchise center.
