My short kings still getting disrespected in 2025Of course. Why, do people think Hagens is too small at 5'11? That seems like a weird case to make. Brayden Point is 5'11.
Would 7OA + Poitras/Toronto 1st get you 4OA from Utah?
Maybe when he is 55 YO?Can he get to 215?
I highly doubt that Martone is getting past the Hawks, if he does he will be gone at 4.Assuming Misa and Hagens are gone, for me it's 1) Eklund, 2) Frondell 3) McQueen (who I've warmed up to).
Martone is next but with his World Championship appearance I think he's gone before 7.
I just feel if you can go from Eklund/Obrien/McQueen to Frondell/Hagens/Desnoyers by adding a tweener like poitras or what's likely a middle to late pick you do it strictly by positional need alone. No way I would give up the Toronto #1 to move up 3 spots. Poitras, guess if you don't believe he will make it, clearly not if you believe he is a #2 center in the long run
I'm just not sold that #4 gets you a better player than #7, and honestly the way this draft is, you might get the player at 7 you were trading up to 4 for, as I think beyond the top 2, the next 6-8 names could come out of the hat in any order and nothing would really surprise me much
The last pick I trade away is Toronto’s. The team is about to implode. Marner is all but out. Tavares is possibly out. Knies could get offer-sheeted.Would 7OA + Poitras/Toronto 1st get you 4OA from Utah?
I'd say it is better than 50/50 that one of the 3 you mention is available at 7. And as much as I like Frondell there is a real good chance he is a wing in the nhlI just feel if you can go from Eklund/Obrien/McQueen to Frondell/Hagens/Desnoyers by adding a tweener like poitras or what's likely a middle to late pick you do it strictly by positional need alone.
I still think 7 could be goneI highly doubt that Martone is getting past the Hawks, if he does he will be gone at 4.
Eklund will be there for us at 7, call his name Donny.
We will be very happy when he is starting for the team next year as the 3rd line RW.
Draft a center in round two. We have Minten and Potsy that need to take the next step.
Hopefully Dean only needs 3 more years to make the team.
Desnoyers is my guy ~ please dear God get to 7McQueen moving up and Desnoyers moving down are all very good things
Bruins need to offer sheet Knies to force Leafs to spend and weaken themselves. That's what a good GM does when he has a chance to hurt a division rival that just won the division. The last pick I trade away is Toronto’s. The team is about to implode. Marner is all but out. Tavares is possibly out. Knies could get offer-sheeted.
That’s a lot of chaos for one offseason. Keep that pick….Toronto could have a shit season next year and give us a lotto chance.
Really good player.I would be over the moon they could land him.Desnoyers is my guy ~ please dear God get to 7
Ooooor, Eklund and Desnoyer.I'd do that and grab Frondell/Desnoyers as fast as I could
That Toronto pick is probably top ten protected. The last pick I trade away is Toronto’s. The team is about to implode. Marner is all but out. Tavares is possibly out. Knies could get offer-sheeted.

When’s the last time that scenario has taken place? Whoa the “good GM” who has done this?Bruins need to offer sheet Knies to force Leafs to spend and weaken themselves. That's what a good GM does when he has a chance to hurt a division rival that just won the division.
Well it's just stupid not to do it .You have a chance to apply pressure to a bitter rival and maybe just maybe steal away a great young player.Blues did it to Oilers but Edm still had McDavid Draisaitl to carry load so they never felt it.They lost a couple good young players though regardless that made the Blues a better team longterm. When’s the last time that scenario has taken place? I personally want Desnoyers, O'Brien or Frondell. I also take McQueen over Martin. Just my personal preference though.Who are you hoping we pick?
Knies would have to want to sign the offer sheet though. Offer sheets are an interesting talking point, but there has to be a willingness from him to do it.Well it's just stupid not to do it .You have a chance to apply pressure to a bitter rival and maybe just maybe steal away a great young player.Blues did it to Oilers but Edm still had McDavid Draisaitl to carry load so they never felt it.They lost a couple good young players though regardless that made the Blues a better team longterm.
Yes, next years draft will be much stronger than this year.I still think 7 could be gone
because next years draft going to be much better then this by a lot the Bruins can do the low risk high reward of McQueen and know they are loaded going forward with draft capital
May how Sweeney sees
But
I’m at
1. Offer 7 for Necas (extension known)
2. Any of consensus 6 get to 7 you take
3. Eklund
This is very good points but the Bruins don't need to spend every dime either to fill out a roster. Pretty sure we went down this path before.Never hurts retaining cap for a trade later when other teams want to shed a contract as they realize they are going nowhere with their current group.Anyhow Sweeney would probably never do it anyways .This current group of free agents is nothing to write home about after Marner decision either .Knies would have to want to sign the offer sheet though. Offer sheets are an interesting talking point, but there has to be a willingness from him to do it.
Say you sign Knies to an offer sheet on July 1st and let’s say for the sake of this conversation it’s $8 per. The Leafs have up to a week to match. You aren’t just pressuring them, you are pressuring yourself as well. Because for the first week of free agency, you’ve now got to account for that $8 million being potentially unavailable.
You can’t spend it because you might get him, which means you can’t get too crazy into the market because you have a big cap figure floating up your head. You are setting yourself up to potentially miss out on both the player and the frenzy.
I think if you can get a Robertson or Necas for the 7 you have to seriously consider it.I still think 7 could be gone

I guess it depends on where you think the team ends up acquiring one of these guys. I just don't think they would be all that much better, as unless one of the big 3 in the Atlantic crap the bed the Bruins are fighting for the 7/8 seed. I hope they try to build this thing methodically and not all at once this summer.I think if you can get a Robertson or Necas for the 7 you have to seriously consider it.
I have an emotional attachment to the pick given the season I just watched, but what is the likelihood the guy they take at 7 turns out to be better than those two players.
If either one came with an extension (I think Robertson can negotiate next season?) it would be hard to pass up.
Not an easy call though.
