NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th II

We are on a message board talking hockey. Get a grip

People are allowed to have opinions on players and the upcoming draft
Yeah and people are allowed to call those opinions uninformed, ridiculous etc. If you want to act like you know more than Redline based on a few highlights and scouting reports than go right ahead and I'll keep laughing at you.

You can say the same about anyone they pick at #7. I find it absolutely hilarious that some of you guys think you have a better read on these prospects then the people who have scouted them for years. Everyone's a genius these days though.
I scouted Barzal for five minutes and I knew he was better than Zboril, Jake or Senny.,

I am hoping someone who is expected to go top 6 falls to the Bruins

I just want them to get this right and not screw it up

We cannot afford it with this pick
Totally agree, we cannot be " reaching" for a player here at 7.
I really like Eklund, think he is NHL ready and could be another Willy Nylander.

And Bob McKenzie has him ranked #13. Does this apply to Bob - should he not be acting like he knows more than Redline?

Who said anything about Porter Martone.

Give me Eklund's play driving or Frondell's shooting at 7. Martin's not in the same caliber offensively as a Misa or Hagans.

And here's the other part about Martin. That game he plays in Junior, you can't play like that in the NHL. The NHL isn't about running around trying to force hits and hit everything in sight. There is more structure and you can't waste all your energy trying to obliterate guys every shift.

I'm not wasting the No.7 pick that is more likely to be the next Cal Clutterbuck than he is the next Sam Bennett. Even Bennett was 24-25 before he really gained his footing at the NHL level. Bruins can't wait that long for this pick to pay dividends.
Why are you bringing up Misa and Hagen's, they're both long gone by 7th. As for the rest, you've clearly never watched Martin play so we can agree to disagree here.

I've seen enough.

I think Martone is long gone before 7 too.

Martin is not my guy at No. 7. I don't put as much stock in his intangible qualities as you do.

Enjoy the draft.

He's not my guy either. I've got him 9th behind the top 6, Eklund and O'Brien. My point was that he deserves to be in the conversation and that I find it funny how people here have such strong opinions on prospects they know very little about.

He doesn't know more than Redline. He doesn't even scout players himself. And that doesn't change the fact that a lot of places have him top ten.
You are correct, he doesn't scout the players himself. He actually does a consensus ranking based in where NHL scouts rank players.

His list is the most accurate because it's based on what the people actually making the picks are going to do.

I got a previous post that I said I like the player overall. He deserves to be ranked in the top half of the draft.

I'm just not focused on his skillset with the No.7 pick for the Boston Bruins. Now if it was a team picking that had a bevy of young offensive players and wanted a bit of a different skill-set, take him at 7. If the Bruins were picking back in the 20s like normal and some team wanted Martin at 7, it wouldn't phase me at all.

But for my favorite team, given what I think they need now and moving forward, there will be guys available at 7 that I would prefer over him.

That's why I dont care who Sweeney takes as long as he doesn't go way off the board and picks someone not on the list below.

Misa
Hagens
Schaefer
Frondell
Eklund
Martone
Martin
O'Brein
Desnoyers
Mrtka
Aitchenson

Fair enough, like I said I have behind Eklund and O'Brien too. I just think you're underestimating Martin's offensive skill but I digress.

I agree. I don't see how anyone can say they know who's going to be better out of that group. I'm not just talking fans, scouts too. Look at any draft 5+ years ago and the best players come from all over the place. In 2020 the 7th best player in the draft was taken in the 2nd round (JJ Peterka). The 7th overall pick was Alexander Holtz, who you could probably get for free this summer.

It's a fool's errand getting wound up over any of them.

Much more recent than that. Last 5 years...
I give up, I even googled it and the only answer I found was Jack Hughes with 19 but it also said he did it at the 2022 combine which was 3 years after he was drafted. There's a video of Lane Hutson doing 21 but not sure if that was at the combine.

I thought it was Zeev with 16. But I also thought we’d have the reveal by now too.

That’s what I’m afraid of, right there. Cal Clutterbuck at 7, but more likely a very humbled player that transitions from “violent” in Jr’s to defensively responsible forward with an occasional hit in the NHL.

Now if he’s that and he brings 55-60 pts a year, great! I wouldn’t feel too bad about that at all. If he’s another 25-30 pt guy that doesn’t demolish people, we’re going to feel pretty sheepish.

So few players are actually physically dominating anymore; it feels very overhyped.

To put it in perspective, Sam Bennett has never hit 55 points. He hit 50 once, with 51 this year.
