NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th II

Spoke to someone very close to Martin.

Had an excellent meeting with Bruins.

He got the impression that they are very interested.

Also said he wants to return to the Soo for 26/27 no interest in the NCAA, for a memorial cup push and possible host city.
He was drafted #3 in his OHL draft year.
Cosentino has him ranked 7 and Button at 6.
Central Scouting has him at #11 for all North American skaters ( Carter Bear is ranked higher)
Would be an interesting pick.
He is at least a year away, maybe 2?

When Martin gets a head of steam, he looks unstoppable. He weaves through the neutral zone, alternating between holding the puck deep in his hip pocket and perfectly timed pushes through sticks and feet. With a seemingly bottomless bag of tricks, he regularly makes the flashy look easy. A destructive force, Martin is a uniquely heavy and frequent hitter. He slams opponents into the wall and throws them to the ice before chasing down the next victim. He battles hard, proactively wins inside position, lands heavy reverse hits, and keeps that energy in the defensive zone. -EliteProspects 2025 NHL Draft Guide

Are we now supposed to give Desnoyers the Frondell treatment and be concerned about his “history of significant wrist injuries”?
His wrists cannot be that bad to play " through it since November".
If they were that bad, he would not have been able to shot a puck with any zip on it, or stickhandle properly.
He can still ride a bike?
Do sit ups?

Martin (if we're talking consistently physical) but the top guys all want the puck.

Martin is the best pick at 7 for winning in the playoffs if/when he becomes the next Sam Bennett.
Yeah, that's who I thought Dom was going to say when I asked who had the highest compete level. I think Sweeney is looking at guys through that lens (compete). At the very least it's more of a consideration for him, after 4Nations.

Where was this guy before he played in the U18s trucking 17 year olds from weaker hockey countries? Most of Canada's games were complete blowouts.

With all the offensive talent at the top of this draft, I'm not taking a guy because he's a good interview and brings supposed on-ice intangibles.
He was in the OHL trucking 19/20 year olds and putting up excellent numbers while being excellent defensively. I don't care where he was ranked 2 or 3 months ago because it's irrelevant. If you don't think Martin has offensive talent then you haven't did your homework. He's just as impressive offensively as Porter Martone was at the same age.

Good luck with that, more so it being a report of why he's not participating in the Combine. Where curious minds go from there who knows.
It actually clarifies the rumors that he was playing injured in the Memorial Cup.

One of those rare instances where an injury rumor starts floating when someone is playing subpar and there's a near immediate confirmation of that rumor.

Maybe, but he could also be the next Garnet Hathaway 😂

I think it is very risky at #7
You can say the same about anyone they pick at #7. I find it absolutely hilarious that some of you guys think you have a better read on these prospects then the people who have scouted them for years. Everyone's a genius these days though.

He scored on a bullet shot late in first period vs London last Friday in play-in Championship game

He’s dropping

It’s all working out

Most of the people who have scouted him for years don’t have him in the top eight. Everyone’s a genius these days though, right?

We are on a message board talking hockey. Get a grip

People are allowed to have opinions on players and the upcoming draft

Who said anything about Porter Martone.

Give me Eklund's play driving or Frondell's shooting at 7. Martin's not in the same caliber offensively as a Misa or Hagans.

And here's the other part about Martin. That game he plays in Junior, you can't play like that in the NHL. The NHL isn't about running around trying to force hits and hit everything in sight. There is more structure and you can't waste all your energy trying to obliterate guys every shift.

I'm not wasting the No.7 pick that is more likely to be the next Cal Clutterbuck than he is the next Sam Bennett. Even Bennett was 24-25 before he really gained his footing at the NHL level. Bruins can't wait that long for this pick to pay dividends.

There's a lot that have him top 10 including Redline who's opinion is worth more than anyone's. And if you don't think tons of people thinking they're smarter than everyone is a thing in society nowadays then you need to pull your head out of the sand.

I really don’t think people realize Martin is an inch taller than Hagens at the same weight.

I’m watching it happen in real time with you right now.
