NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th II

Martin then Eklund.
I would not complain but Eklund is legit 30 G 70 point player

Martin very tantalizing

Red Line Draft Guide - Martin 7 and Woodlief said he’s a legit C he can play there - doesn’t see moving

Hockey News - Eklund 7

Often I’ll be with a group of 4+ out to eat and I’ll order last and as the server is going around i have no idea which of 3-4 things I want even after researching menu and been to place before

If Eklund, O’Brien, Martin, and McQueen is the special of the day - I think I take Eklund but I could lose it and pick any of them

If any of consens top 6 slide I take at 7

Just asking here because I don't know much about MacQueen outside video I watched, but is it fair to say he is like a Jason Spezza ? Would that be a comparable ? Injury aside of course .
I know so little about McQueen I been on a crash course

Here is what a got - he’s kind of an alpha personality. He’s confident and he’s got charisma - People like him

If his medicals are good and looks like thumbs up at combine he is endearing and could get someone (Flyers?) to grab

I have Desnoyers to Chicago as a perfect 2C for Bedard. If Utah goes doesn't grab Martone, I think he falls all the way to Boston.
I swear I had him there but they got Nazar & Greene coming along

I had him and pulled him off thinking Toews part 2

Also ledger and great kid

Yup I can see Desnoyers to Chicago

I watched a lot of the Moncton games and I really liked his game - he’s my guy here out of Frondell, Hagens, and Martone

Bruins list in order
Schaefer
Misa
Desnoyers
Hagens
Martone
Frondell

Thought I was the only one that did that!

Get a marco rossi and get Minnesota 2nd round pick. I want the sure thing. 60 points age 23 . Kids got oodles of talent on nhl level. If donny bust this pick were done for. If marco rossi isnt your taste then find another young center producing at nhl level. Donny has a mediocre record in drafting .
We don’t need a 23 year old 60pt guy. We need a 20 year old 60 pt guy with 3 more years of potential. We don’t need a plug-in now. We need the next cornerstones of the franchise.

Casey Mittlestadt put up 59pts at 24. How do you feel about him now? What if this squirt you like turns out the same?

We need to grow organically. If that Rossi guy wants out of Minnesota, fine…then the onus is on them to move him. They can have our trash for their trash, not our #7.

I'm not even sure how many players are successful studs in the 1st round after pick number 5 . I think it's a crapshoot. I love the sure thing. A player age 23 just got 60 points ain't chicken feed he has room to grow . There are teams lined up him for to put a offer to Minnesota go check. Like I said if you dont like rossi then try a mctavish or something. Doubt ducks are dumb enough to sell him. Also I proposed a 2nd round pick to attached to him to make the offer swing to our side. Hopefully we find a gem there.

What is the obsession with trading down?!? We CLEARLY need a singular quality prospect somewhere, ANYWHERE in our pool, and you guys want to bring us closer to the likelihood of another mediocre player?

Seriously guys, we have plenty of warm bodies, ok? We need one that can actually play hockey. Enough with the trading down!
What if you trade down and swap picks with someone like Anaheim, Seattle, Buffalo or Canucks but are getting a 1c in return? Still good names left in those first 3 teams for sure, so a win now and later rather than just win later imo. Maybe you get McTavish AND McQueen/Mrtka/Martin instead of just O’Brien. Gotta be the right scenario, though Sweeney should be open to ideas

Fabian lysell was supposed to be a high scoring swedish forward look how that has turned out. Kakko for rags was gonna be the generational finn who was supposed to put a 100 points a year. Laf 1st overall is putting up a paltry 50 points a year. Draft is a crapshoot. The best player maybe in the 2nd round. I would trade this pick big time and get something that helps now my big criteria player must be roster under age 23.

I agree with your overall point but there is no way Anaheim trades McTavish to move up 3 spots. I don't even think they would trade him straight up for the 7th overall.

Exactly, and if they are willing to, it’s a pretty damn good sign that we should be holding that pick.

If another team says, here take my #10 pick and my young 50-60pt scorer for your #7, that means they project the guy that’s available to be significantly better than the kid they are giving up plus the leftovers at 10. That ought to make your GM and his scouts have a second look at who’s left on the board.

I wouldn’t mind Martone falling to Boston. I’m still trying to get my head around him being ranked the 6th NA skater in Central Scouting’s final (mid April) ranking, and so maybe it’s not so far-fetched. I like his size and skill, of course. He might be the very worst fighter in the draft sadly, but I get the impression he’ll poke around and cause opponents anxiety from time to time, which is a plus.

If you want a good idea of how hard it will be to pin down BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE listen to this pod of four well known draft experts trying to agree to a top 12. Outside of the first two, it’s all over the place. Aside from Corey Pronman’s nasal stylings (and it was fun to hear him get slapped around a bit), it’s a pretty interesting listen.

Because central scouting thinks oBrien is going to be better if they’re already not better. If they released their rankings after the memorial cup would Desnoyers be ranked higher? What about if they did it after the world jrs?

I like both these players more than martone. But I’ve been very clean I want Brady Martin. Brady Martin crushed the best on best tournament by scoring, playmaking, hitting and playing strong defensive hockey. He is a wrecking ball who has a near perfect defensive game and can hammer one timers from all over the ice. This is the player you win with. He won the tournament mvp. I know people say we base too much on this tournament but how many super star players didn’t crush this tournament?

Edit: just to be clear I’d also be very happy if they draft Martone.

I hadn’t given Martin much serious consideration, but I’m a sucker for that type of player. Marchand level competitiveness, too. I like hearing that he projects so well.

Yea but do are they boyle types or tage types? That's the big question.
or Beecher types. Too early to say right now. McQueen certainly has some good skill sets so I think Boyle/Thompson is a fair outcome if he hits his draft stock. Letourneau has far more concerns I think. Still really early in development though so hopefully he responds next season and those comparisons could be the same for Dean too.

If dean is anything like Boyle we hit a homerun. Boyle in his prime was a pain in a ass solid 3rd line center penalty kills and put some decent points in his career. Hoping for that.

Who is the most competitive player in the top10?

If I were betting money, that's who I'd bet Sweeney will pick. He talked a lot at the end of season press conference about how competitive the elite players at the 4Nations were. I think that quality, more than anything else, is going to drive his 2025 off-season.
