NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th II

If the bruins take Eklund I fully expect Lysell to take second line right wing next season and then eventually Eklund will replace him. Good problem to have

RM down in Providence btw said Lysell’s skill set translates better to NHL. I had that view when watching his final stretch here vs my live views in Springfield and Hartford shortly after so good to hear Mougenel has the same perspective. Check out his interview with hockey hub
Not to be a downer ,but expecting Lysell to play any significant role with the Bruins next season would be, being very optimistic .

Well I’m known for my optimism

Will be up to him to continue his play from his final stint here, if he does, he’s in the line up. Bruins are weak on wing and they need speed and guys who can whip shots and make sneaky passes.

Who did he play with again, Zacha and…? Middlestat?

Don’t love middlestat long term but Lysell looked great with them

Scouts from Draft Guide on Roger McQueen

Scout 1: Ability-wise, he’s top five, potentially even top three. With the injury, and being on the heels of (Cayden) Lindstrom not playing, I expect him to slide

FYI : Lindstrom the No. 4 overall pick in 2024 by Columbus missed the entire 2024/25 WHL season with Medicine Hat with a back issue. He returned for Memorial Cup and looked very good. McQueen was suspected of similar

Scout 2: The first thing you notice is his size. He skates extremely well for a big guy, and he can be elusive, especially when he has the puck. He hunts down pucks, drives the net and has a good shot. You can tell he’s a leader by the way he plays, so there’s character, too’

Depending how the combine goes I wouldn't be shocked to see the following top 6 selections.
Schaefer
Misa
Martone
McQueen
Frondell
Martin

That would leave us Hagens, Desnoyer and Eklund to choose from. Who would you pick?

Probably would go Hagens, then Eklund, then Desnoyers. Unless Desnoyers is at the combine and can put concerns about his slight physique to rest, then I might put him higher.

I would take a chance on him, I honestly feel only based on readings on these kids its a crapshoot after 3.

If he falls to us do it.

Trade down
If we are trading down to somewhere between 10 and 12, I would be asking for a second round pick this year, a third rounder next year and a number 3-4 prospect and the team has to take CM.
The cap space would allow us to make a serious run at Marner.
CM's spot can be taken by one of Minten/Potsy for next year.
With Marner, we have two first line RW's and our PP is instantly upgraded.

Islanders - Schaefer
Sharks - Misa
Chicago - Martone
Utah - Desnoyers
Nashville - Hagens
Flyers - Frondell
Bruins - ????
One of
O’Brien
Eklund
Martin
McQueen

If that's how the first 6 picks go.....I'm torn between O'Brien and Eklund

O'Brien fills a need for a good young center. He's got everything you want with a project frame, 200ft game, high IQ and leadership qualities. Feels like a mix stylistically of Krejci & Bergeron based on what I've read. Good young centers are hard to find and its tough to pass on one.

Eklund could end up being one of the most dynamic players in the draft when all is said and done. Doesn't have size, but he's got that dog in him. As he matures and add strength, he'll only become even more dangerous. I went back and looked and when drafted Pastrnak was 6'0/168lb. Pastrnak now is sitting at 6'0/200lb. Eklund isn't much smaller than Pastrnak when he was drafted and sits at 5'11/161lb. With the right training program, there is no reason he couldn't get up over 190lbs.

Yeah, the more I look into McQueen the more I think he's my guy (assuming all medicals check out at the combine this week). O'Brien or McQueen at 7.

Just insanely skilled and the balls didn't fall our way. Take the upside swing. I fear, with Neely and Sweeney's hot seat, they won't consider him when they're on the clock as it's too risky. I am optimistic that Sweeney went to watch him personally.

O brian gotta be the pick he could be top 3 material no health issues as well. Smart center. If he is 5 percent of david krejci nab him.

Just asking here because I don't know much about MacQueen outside video I watched, but is it fair to say he is like a Jason Spezza ? Would that be a comparable ? Injury aside of course .

5%? Some bar you got there, Don 😂

For the record, O'Brien I would be very happy with as well.
David krejci will be impossible to be replicate . He was money in the playoffs. Took us all the way 2011 leading point guy in playoffs suberb passer 2 way calm under pressure player played all situations . Truly one of the best. Miss him greatly. His number will be retired in td garden. O brian seems similar to him hope we get another dk we sure can use it.

I like that Martin might be as competitive as Marchand. Is he skilled enough to take at 7? If folks were to guess, how many points would you expect him to average? 40? 60?
Marek said he’s top 6 I believe . I would imagine 60 is a safe bet… more productive than Bennett at the least. The real kicker is he’s a farm boy that’s never had the fancy trainers or resources that the others do and I think that’s why I wouldn’t be surprised if he levels up more than others after entering development.

What is the obsession with trading down?!? We CLEARLY need a singular quality prospect somewhere, ANYWHERE in our pool, and you guys want to bring us closer to the likelihood of another mediocre player?

Seriously guys, we have plenty of warm bodies, ok? We need one that can actually play hockey. Enough with the trading down!

Get a marco rossi and get Minnesota 2nd round pick. I want the sure thing. 60 points age 23 . Kids got oodles of talent on nhl level. If donny bust this pick were done for. If marco rossi isnt your taste then find another young center producing at nhl level. Donny has a mediocre record in drafting .
