NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7th II

I’d like to see them keep the pick and trade Toronto’s first next year for Rossi or Howard
Man this right here is why the mystery of GM life is so intriguing, but difficult for us plebeians to navigate. You’ve got a guy with 2 years of NHL games and 100 points under his belt, and another who hasn’t touched a pro sheet, and the rumors say separately that a first is what the team are after. If that’s true for both, is it that the lightning are asking for too much, or the Wild aren’t asking enough, or both? I’d probably lean towards both?

Rossi is two and a half years older and yeah, he has film at the NHL level. At his size in the middle he’s a tough fit in many systems. And I’m not sure he’s a winger.

Had some free time this morning before heading out to the kids games. I had made one of these for O'Brien just after the draft order was revealed. Seems like Martin & Eklund are two guys that are popular to chat about in the thread

Ok for fun, say they had finished 4th in standings without that last annoying win, and say they had picked FIFTH. We know who we would have picked at 4TH (probably Hagens).

Who would you pick in the 5 spot?

I ask because it'll be interesting on draft day to see how often that guy is there at 5. I'm guessing most of you say Desnoyers

Would they have been bumped to 6th?

In a vacuum sure. But the Bruins need high level talent - I don’t think they should make a volume play - they already have that with the seconds and the multiple firsts going forward. Pick your best guy and make it work.
That's great if there's high level talent available at 7
If not, I'd rather not settle on the next grouping of players when you can trade back, accrue more assets and draft roughly the same level of talent a few picks later
Combine starts tomorrow, hopefully we get clarity with some of these guys past/present injuries

If they had finished in 4th (like PHI) they'd be picking 6th (like PHI).

I think the pick would have been Desnoyers at 4 or 6 (or 5th obviously).

The metaverse doesn't work that way.

if they'd finished 4th, probably someone else wins the lotto :) (since many of the other spots shuffle too)

I think if people like anyone other than Desnoyers, good shot he's there at 7. Desnoyers being there at 7 is going to be interesting. Still possible.

I know so many want Desnoyers and fear he’s out of reach now with the 7th pick, but his build scares me. Can his body even take on enough muscle to battle at the next level? Or will he need to settle for stick-checking and dodging contact? It doesn’t sound like that’s been his game in juniors.
