Probably some, but with 20 goals as a dman that means he is getting his shot through.

@LJReborn and @MarchysNoseKnows re: DeBrincat, if that's the way people on here thought about him then that's hilarious. Anyone who watched him play in the OHL knew he was going to be excellent in the NHL. Most Leaf fans were furious they didn't pick him at the start of the 2nd and Bruins fans should've been too. They also most likely would've won the Cup in 2019 if they had taken DeBrincat instead Frederic. Again, he was hands down the most talented player left on the board but Boston wanted that future 3rd liner instead.

They will get what’s left over from the top six. Pretty easy. It’s a toss up on the remaining kids. And nobody can tell me which one will hit. The top three they can argue but at seven, luck of the draw so to speak. It isn’t a good draft.

I certainly knew that back when I spent more time reading here 10-20 years ago but I guess I thought that people would've wisened up over the years regarding small players. Christ, DeBrincat had as many goals when he was 17 as Roger McQueen had points at the same age and some people here want to pick him 7th overall basically because he's big.

Don't get me wrong, I like big players too if they can actually play but talent is the most important thing.

Nice. Anyone that is good at retrieving pucks and moving it quickly will be rated high in my book. With not allowing to interfere on dump ins and the game getting faster the ability to retrieve the puck and move it is becoming the best skill to have.

Another later round guy I am keeping any eye on. Seems like untapped potential being on the lower lines but could see him blossom in a scoring role

The league has a bias against smaller players (and obsession with Big) , that is the reason DeBrincat wasn't a top 10 pick in his draft year. That is the reason that people are talking about McQueen being an option in the top 10, and Eklund could slide far below where his talent and production should have him picked

Easy? Maybe for the first three picks. After that there’s a miriad of opinions on who is the better choice. Lot of hopes riding on whom the Gm selects.

Yeah they both the same size the bonus is Pickford is a RD. I think if he there in the 5th round I'd take him.

The reality is that we have every cross section of fan. People who lean towards speed and skill will dog those who lean towards grit and toughness and the same happens in the other direction.

It certainly seems like DeBrincat was the right guy. I will say that eventhough Trent was never on a path to better or as good as DeBrincat, but at one point I certainly thought we had a blossoming 3rd line center with versatility to play either wing. He fell off a cliff and looks like a 4th liner with little pop. But the guy I thought he was trending for would have been a really good pick where we got him. I don’t know what happened. I was hoping the playoffs would reawaken him but I haven’t seen it yet.

I never for one second thought Frederic was on the path to being a good center-wing maybe. His playmaking skills were almost nil.
