NHL 2025 DRAFT - Bruins pick 7 OA

I’m of the opinion they are going to get a quality prospect regardless on draft night.

I also think every draft has players that fall and players that rise. 7 isn’t a terrible position because a good player, one projected higher, could fall right into their lap.

So we have two picks in the 2nd round. Any reports on interesting guys there? We seem to make some magic happen in that round, and the 1st round has been debated ad nauseam.
Ranger have offensive defenseman Cam Reid. Kid skates like the wind. He can rush pucks out of the defensive zone quick and blow past opposing forwards and defensemen in the O zone. His only flaw might be size at 6 feet.

Absolutely they will get a great prospect, you just have to look at the last 20 years what players have been picked at 7 and not lot of bust...With the board and the need of center, i think guy like Martone or Frondell could slip at 7, Frondell it s not clear if he s more a C or a W, and it could be a solid grab for Bs, even a dynamo like Eklund could be a win!

Many have been saying Martone could fall to us, which is somewhat plausible if teams 3-6 defer to drafting centers. I like him at #3OA so #7 is a steal, but question if it makes sense to then go after one of the high ticket RW free agents? I’d imagine Martone could push for 2nd line RW in 2026 season, which would put us in a weird situation with say Boeser getting dropped to the 3rd line. I’d probably just prefer we stick to the O’Brien/Martin path at this point, as pretty good wingers are more often available on the market than pretty good centers.

That's actually kind of funny. Martone would be saved from the Sweeney waivers-exempt, 5 years of seasoning by the NHL-CHL agreement keeping the young ones out of the AHL.

Of course, Boeser would be in year 3 of an assumed 7 year deal, so Martone could look forward to 4 more years of Providence or Manchvegas or wherever.

Hoping for a center. Hagens, Desnoyers, O'Brien in that order.
Any of those guys would be Sweet. I'm thinking Hagens will be gone for sure, and Desnoyers is such a well rounded player who can create offense, I don't see him falling, but you never know!

Id think the big 6 in Schaefer,Misa,Hagens,Desnoyers,Martone and Frondell all would be gone by seven. which would leave one of OBrien,Martin and Eklund available for the Bruins, any of which would be more than fine with me.

Although all it would take is for one GM to fall in love with one of O'Brien, Martin, Eklund, McQueen or one who believes a Mrtka or Aitcheson could be a top pairing defenseman. Maybe there'll be a GM in both instances and two players drop to 7. Anyhow Im thinking the Bruins will get an impact player.

People really overrate the u18 IMO.

i agree with your top 6. I think those 6 are clearly the top of this draft and are fairly interchangeable. The second group are next tier, could pan out but much more uncertainty.
I think Desnoyers may end up being one of the best players in the draft so praying he drops to 7th but cant see it.

Friendly wager…I bet at least one and possibly 2 of your “big 6” are available to us at 7.

I think so too, but I feel that its more inclined that the teams themselves put their last couple of years into play and not just the last tournament, but the press/fans is a different story.

Perfect example this year with Frondell and Martin.

Frondell was hyped as being a Barkov clone, playing in the mens league and putting up stats better than Pasta and Nylander at the same age,and a few bad games at the U18, its been all quiet on the Frondell front.

Martin with a dominant U18 is rising I myslef would be happy if the bruins got either, but I'm far from a scout and have only seen them in Tournaments and You-tube clips.lol

Your qualifications are better than Sweeney and Co.
I am all in on getting one of Frondell or Eklund.
The experience they gained by playing with men this year vs a junior player is valuable.

If he falls to us I think you’ve got to get him unless Frondell or Hagens are there too.

I have to imagine out of the top guy that it is Desnoyers that is still there when we pick.
