WC: 2025 Czech Team

One more Dallas one more. Finish it and bring us Marty pretty please
On one hand, I wish Necas success in this year's play-offs. Pretty unique year as he's still on team-friendly contract, while Colorado loaded up before the play-offs, then they got Landeskog coming back from long-term injury and looking good I guess(?)... So it's really great opportunity for Colorado.

On the other hand, idea of Pasta & Necas once again at the WHC is just too good. Surprised it is 3-2 for Dallas at this point. Going to be tough to beat Dallas twice in a row. I believe Necas is that type of player who will always come if not for injury, or without contract situation.

I know this will be a controversial take, but I as a czech dont care about NHL playoff one bit and always rooting for our players to get kicked out as soon as possible so they can come to play for NT.

I mean what so great about one or two guys coming home showing SC ? Never really understand the hype about it. It makes me 100 times more joy to see our boys celebrating with WCH trophy on Old Town Square then seeing some with SC

In the WCH vs SC battle I am 100% WCH guy lol

Doesnt mean I dont wish for Pasta or other czech players to win SC, but I will always rather see then playing for NT, so I generally just root for the teams against them lol

I don't think it is controversial opinion, but I (to some degree) disagree with you on this topic. Firstly, I really don't care about them possibly showing Stanley Cup here in the Czech Republic, or not.

It is important to note here that it's different when Stanley Cup win eg. 4th line player, or 3rd pairing d-man from Czech Republic playing 8 minutes/game, compared to when Stanley cup win our star players like Pasta, or Necas. Because it will also mean they were very likely huge contributors to that (eg. Krejci 2011). It's huge for their careers, when we will look back on them. We know how badly Pasta, or Necas want to lift the Cup in their career.

So I wish them success on all levels, not only national. They did it all last year in Prague, therefore I think it is reasonable now to root for them going deep in the play-offs.

I get your point and I wish them success at all levels too and I do wish for Pasta, Necas etc. to win SC at least once in their career, yet at the same time I want to see them playing in NT every chance possible, take Necas for example … before Prague the last time he was at WCH was when he was 18 and still in Brno, so sometimes its pretty rare to see those players in NT so when there is a chance to see him two years in a row? I am all for it lol

Also I think that the still not so good (although hopefully improving if we dont count that u18 disaster lol) state of czech hockey where we have barely 15 skaters in NHL is not helping me much to root for the guys in SC playoffs lol. Meaning that i would care much less if they get kicked out or not if we had some 60+ players like sweden you know, cause I would know that no matter what we could still easily score at leest 10guys and be stacked and go for medal.

Lets goo, hope he will play good in Brno so Rulik wont send him back to vacation lol
Exactly this.. he sent home NHLers last year. I think it's great but I'm 50-50 he makes final cut. However, great news! I'm not positive Lauko makes it either. They seem to be the guys he doesn't want.

Eg. last year Zadina was a 4th liner in NHL and got his ass cut
This year he is a first line in NLA and will probably make team

Do I agree with this? Not really but trying to predict the coach.

I should add.. I could see Klapka on line 4 of Olympic team. So I hope he gets a look and a chance. He's a smart player and needs other smart players around him. He doesn't do as well with similar level 4th line plugs to my eye. A good supporting player to a good player.lol

Would you keep 2 spots on the roster for Kulich and Blumel? I know Kulich is probably sci-fi (Rochester is leading 2:0 now)
But I think we can take Blumel without any try-out. He isn't 19 years old rookie. He is 24 and scored 62 pts last year and 72 pts this year in good league. He is top 6 player for me. I'd wait for him till last moment.

I don't think Rulik is into AHL players.

I also don't think Blumel should be in AHL.

Kulich should be gifted a spot if his team is eliminated. He should be a LOCK for Olympics and it'd be good to get him experience. I think him and Pasta shoot one timers from opposite side too! So that PP could be fun.

Would I save a spot for Blumel? yes, but I'd also have Jenik, Kral, Svozil and Klapka from AHL. I have a AHL bias. Rulik has a Euro League bias.lol

Lauko is the kind of guy who plays with Kase-level effort. So if he brings that, he has a shot I think.

Yeah Lauko is in big danger too lol ... I get it that they need to show they are better then those euro players, but they have it extremely hard ... you fly in have 2-3 games top to show your absolute A game or you go home

Thats the one thing I dont agree on with Rulik, I think NA players should be given preference in those tiebreakers when they look on par with euro guys. I know many will disagree, but I just think that playing in best league in the world gives him a bit of an endge a better ceiling where they can develop though the tourney.

But if it ends with another gold, who am I to challenge those decision right lol ... lets just hope Klapka and Lauko will be good enough to win the spot, just for the fan perspective it would be much more interesting to see them then all those euro guys we get to see for the whole year.

Yeah I think Blumel would be the same case as Kulich last year, eventhough amazing season in AHL, Rulik wont just take him straight to WCH, cause he didnt saw him play beforhand.

And also agree that at this point Kulich should get the spot even if he would just arrive only for QF.

Flames already announcing it like if he made the final roster. A lot of players competing for bottom 6.

Do we count Flek as a lock for the roster spot? Because I am not sure if Flek will be in the mood to compete for the WHC in just a few days!
Well he will alredy be in Brno though .. so he can just hop on to the game from a pub lol

Btw insane that Kometa won it .. I would never guessed them .. would say Sparta, Pardubice, Hradec, Litvinov and Trinec before them lol

In the last 9 years in ELH only Trinec and Kometa won the league ... also crazy

Also crazy that Sparta and Pardubice with that crazy stacked teams still dont have title lol

Just realized it, yes, that's pretty crazy. Since season 2016/17 only 2 teams have won Czech Extraliga. And also both teams, Brno & Trinec, have so many similarities in their current wins.

Sparta and Pardubice are only good for winning regular seasons. I always say that regular season of our Czech Extraliga is kind of joke, when almost all of the teams qualify for the play-offs anyway. Not many reasons to watch it.

As a Brno boy I was very happy! Didn't see that coming at all.

On a funny note.. I give it a 80 percent chance scotka gets nominated.

From the neutral fan's perspective, I would so much rather see Postava play at this level than sub-.900 goalie for 3 years straight Vladar. I understand it's borderline impossible to overtake an NHL goalie in the pecking order but I hope somehow it happens.
