WJC: 2025 Czech Team

Yup, not too happy.lol

No Badinka
No Jiricek
No Benak
No Mrtka

Got Sale for now.

Hrabal and Milota is perfect.

Like the forwards a lot.. especially with guys like Zidlicky having solid seasons.

I know nothing about Zemlicka and Volas

It is interesting. Curiosu what others think?
Dont know the forward group looks good, nice to see Cihar and Novotny here. But leaving Benak behind is just crazy, we really think that Simek or Zemlicka are better options? Benak just have skills two levels above 95% of this team, its crimminal to not bring him, no matter his size.

D is weak, sadly Jiricek injured and Badinka having personal problem with Augusta. We basically have Galvas with Dvorak there, Fibigr is so so with his form and the rest are just average players at best. They just could have bring Mrtka to at least show himself if he really is a top prospects instead some no name Volas guy .. who the hell is even that guy lol?

I think we can outplay weaker teams because the offense is solid, but top teams are gonna trash us because the D is really weak.

With Benak, Jiricek, Badinka I would say medal is possible, with this nomination? QF will be the end.

No Curran or Perez too. I do like the forwards though. It's the D that pisses me off.
You are right where the f*** is Curran? But Simek is going for some reason, guy is 19 and 0.48 ppg in junior league, yet he is going over Curran and especially Benak ... like what the actuall f***?

And dont give me all "someone has to defend bs" he is 173cm and 70kg, how can he defend anyone? You can put Benak into checking line with those parameters

In defense there are also stupid decisions imo, Port and Koci are completely forgettable in CHL, if we dont have Jiricek and Badinka, why they at least didnt bring Skok who is playing full time ELH for Plzen, or Svec who is having more then 0.5 ppg in Czech2 league with Pardubice B, also playing with men?

No we bring two guys who completely suck even on junior level.

Oh man, way to kill the mood this f***in lineup again

Regarding Badinka, it turned out exactly as expected. That player simply took offense after last year's championship and refused to represent. And a player who is offended has no business in the national team. And he still didn't play a single really good game last season.
The absence of Jiříček is, of course, a huge loss. Maybe the name Jiříček is cursed.
I'm surprised Mrtka isn't nominated, even though he didn't play very well among men.
The absence of Benák does not surprise me, Novotný and Čihař play among men, they are better prepared for this tournament. Maybe if he wasn't in America, but in Europe and he played the last preparatory tournament and proved that he is physically enough for this level, then Augusta would nominate him...
When I see the rosters of the other teams, I certainly don't see our chances for a medal very realistic. But hey, even miracles happen, as we saw last year.

I would also like to know what my great favorite says about the absence of Badinka..:joker:
If anyone finds out, feel free to write

Also.. we favored a few guys playing in Europe over guys in North America. It's on north American ice.

But we shall see. Just waiting for sale to get the call to the NHL for 3 games during the tournament.

Yeah, Badinka has been enfant terrible. He was invited for some preparation games last season, was playing beyond terrible, ignoring the coaches' instructions. Then acting like a 13 y.o. kid after not being selected for the last WJC team. It is cool he plays in the SHL but who would want a player who once was demostratively showing he didn't respect the coach?

I honestly hoped after he refused to represent 2 times this year that Augusta would not nominate him. Such a player can break up the team, he plays the star of the team, which he is not even mistakenly. He played absolutely horribly in the national team last year, and I wrote in november that I expected the coach not to nominate him for the championship after such performances. It's better that the team is internally strong rather than having similar wannabe stars playing there.

Interestingly, the team's official nomination has not been published anywhere. While two days back the nomination appeared here..

Really happy about Ročak nomination. Some of our Czech friends here in Ottawa are close with his family. They will be staying with them through the tournament.
Fingers crossed he makes the final team. Haven’t seen him play but I’ve heard good things.

Biggest shock from nomination from me is no Benak… that’s crazy. Mrtka to a degree as well.
Part of the enjoyment for me in this tournament is to see how draft eligibles match up against the best in the world. Would have been interesting to see Benak play. I think he would have excelled and raised his draft stock.
With that being said, very intrigued to watch this upcoming phenom Čihař :) As well as Novotny.

But to be fair this does mean Czech hockey is in a better place when we leave out good players. Never used to be this way! We would not have anyone to select from in previous years. A decent 16 year old would make the team lol.

The nomination is crazy all together, no Benak, Curran or Perez in the front for example, instead of them completely forgettable Simek or Zemlicka (had to look him up I didnt even know such a guy existed)

In the back completely average Port and Koci, and some Volas guy (where tf he came from?), instead of Badinka (ok he has beef with Augusta so this was expected) but no Mrtka wtf? Why not Skok who is at least full time ELH player, why not Svec who is playing Czech 2nd league with men and is 0,5 ppg and top 10 D in scoring in whole 2nd league?? No we bring Port and Koci who have 10 points combined in f***in junior league lol.

This nomination is disaster once again, I dont understand why we are constantly shooting ourselves in the leg and why are we not bringing the best we have? I was wrong with Rulik this year in Prague and I am glad, but I called out past two U18 nominations and 2023 Skodas nomination which were all disasters so I am still 3-1 in my predictions.

And I am telling you this WJC will be a big dissapointment for czech hockey, cause the good and talented players were left behind and average guys took their place and going instead. Its a shame really.

What angers me the most is probabaly the D

We could have had such a beautiful D this year with 5 top or at least above average players: Jiricek, Badinka, Dvorak, Galvas, Mrtka

We ended up with two :( Fibigr, Rocak and Husinecky can stand some parameters check .., rest is thrash

Very glad to hear that! When I watch Rockets games, it feels like Roci is less "lively" this season, probably because Szturc has graduated and he's already more shy than other North American kids (or maybe it's just that Rockets' former social media manager has gone to the NHL and the new social media guy isn't posting as much as the former manager used to)
To be fair, it's hard to get an NHL-related opportunity at his size, but he's been improving over the last year, so I really hope he gets this opportunity and enjoys this training camp and the rest of his Junior season!

I was wrong with Rulik this year in Prague and I am glad,
We were both wrong and I've admitted to that.

However, I'd like to point out, we shit on the roster before the arrival of Pasta, Necas and Zacha. If the orignal roster we shit on had those 3, we would not have shit on it. That was a HUGE difference in talent. So, sure, we look stupid but look at that roster again without Pasta, Necas and Zacha. It's still a bad roster.lol

I guess my point is that we shit on a bad roster, then the roster added 3 top line players and then we look stupid.lol

The only thing I did NOT see coming in anyway at all was Jakub Krejcik being an absolute star at that tournament. I did not see that coming at all. I shit all over him being on the team. Then he got his nose broke and I was all 'we can't win wihtout Krejcik'.lol

So that was my big mistake but I still maintian the original roster nomination was not good for the forwards. It got good after the arrivals of those studs and they carried us to an amazing Gold. I rewatch those matches to this day on Youtube.

Just wanted to get that off my chest.lol

I think a lot of us (me especially) get excited about names and potential first rounders. So we put together these rosters but forget that a lot of the guys we want are 16 or 17 and weigh 150lbs and will be going against 19 year old Canadians.lol

I was in total shock about Benak. However, they took Novotny and Cihar. Feels like he got punished for leaving for North America. That is stupid in itself because the games are played on small rinks which he is playing on. They took big rink players to a small rink tournament and that is stupid.

I had Mrtka as the 7/8 D in my original guess but then no jiricek and Badinka and he should easily be top 6. Again, left for North America and maybe that is the issue? Speculating of course but we have 2 potential first rounders leave for North America and get cut?

You're totally right though... what a great problem to have. I said, before the nominations, that we have about 16 forwards that we could bring and I'd be happy. One of the infographics listed their sizes and our forwards are a big group! Real good size to them. Our D is small though as Dvorak is the only big player.

He projects to be a very good Euro D. But I think he'll fit right in as a 19 year old at this tournament. I'm expecting a good tournament from him!

The D is small and not that skilled. It's our achilles heel for sure. Agree with your Svec and Skok ideas. Still hoping Jiricek miraculously heals.lol

I don't mind Port or Koci as they are 19 and experienced. They have some size to them as well. However, they are now lookign to be 20 minute a night players and I really thought we'd have a top 4 of Badinka, Jiricek, Galvas and Dvorak. Then we all saw no Badinka. Then we saw Jiricek get hurt. Now it's undrafted Galvas and Dvorak on top . I like Fibigr a lot but he's not going to carry us to a medal. I am in shock no Mrtka.

I do love our Forwards and goalies though... sucks about Perez or Curran but we have a dynamite group there. It's not even controversial to leave them behind and they would've been locks for any other team from 2006 to 2020. That's a great problem to have! The fact Curran plays on small rinks and got cut is stupid to me. I really am not sure if they took small rink in Canada into consideration and they should have. Do Novotny or Cihar have much small rink experience? Because Benak and Curran sure do! So does Mrtka.

You are right bro. We were wrong but still Pasta, Zacha and especially Necas was a huge boost, who nows how we have ended without them.

Krejcik was a beast in that tournament. I did not see that coming at all lol. I seriously doubt he can do this again. But still no one can take Prague away from him. "Životní forma" as we czech say lol. He was really great.
