It's been 8 years but they are back (before heading to the wintery climate of Northwest Saudi Arabia).

Tiers are kinda gone this time around with a single men's tournament, though groups for the preliminary are adjusted.

Group A: KAZ, JPN, KOR, CHN, TPE, THA
Group B: KGZ, SGP, KUW, BHR
Group C: TKM, HKG, IND, MAC

All Group A make it to the quarter-finals so it is more of a ranking exercise. They will be joined by the winners of Groups B and C, with a game between the two for seeding purposes. The other teams will play placement games.

On the women's side, the format had to be adapted as Japan and China are competing this coming week for an Olympics berth in Tomakomai, Japan.

Group B (Preliminary round): KOR, KAZ, TPE, HKG, THA
Group A (Medal round): JPN, CHN, Q1, Q2

No announcement has been made concerning international broadcast.

Update after 4 days

In Group A, Japan and Kazakhstan are logically topping the standing with 6 points, followed by South Korea with also 2 wins but with a point dropped to China. The Chinese did okay against Kazakhstan and kept the score respectable. Kudos to Thailand for keeping the top 2 dogs to a combined 20 GA. Chinese Taipei round up the group with 1-29 GD to Japan and South Korea.

In the lower groups, massive gap between the WC teams and the others.

In Group B, Kyrgyzstan edged Kuwait in a mad game on the opening day, pretty much ensuring a quaterfinal berth. Singapore, who is still waiting for a new rink to be built (works should apparently begin in March), should end up in the 11-12 game. Bahrain are doing their best, all considering.

In Group C, Hong Kong and Turkmenistan will logically battle for the top spot. Like, Bahrain, India and Macau are clearly outmatched here. Macau goalie Man Long Leung has so far faced 212 shots over 2 games.

In the women's tournament. Kazakhstan is pretty much already qualified for the final round, unless a freak series of events happens. South Korea should join them before they meet on Sunday.

Also, an easier way to watch games.
