I don't see the Flyers selecting Roger McQueen. They aren't going to risk a high pick on someone with a wonky back. They need to hit it out of the park and player health is going to be paramount with that pick. I get that McQueen's injury was a pars fracture of his back and not his discs, that's still a concerning injury and he's missed A LOT of time due to injury. I can't see the Flyers risking drafting McQueen with the hopes that he might be over his injuries.

Exactly the reason i'm taking McQueen there over Obrien and Bear if i'm Briere. They need to hit a HR not a double. Drafting a player like Obrien or bear there won't produce a star player, McQueen could be a star. Flyers need stars, they need to gamble, if they strike out then they'll be in better position to continue to take big swings at guys like McKenna, DuPont, etc.

It works be different if McQueen has shown any sort of homerun trait. Fact is, he's not the greatest of skaters. He's not a great goal scorer. He's got size. That's it. Look at his numbers and nothing stands out. He's never been healthy a full season in his career. As for Bear or O'Brien, they've shown more in their junior careers than McQueen has. In the case of O'Brien, he's grossly outperformed McQueen in just about every single category scouts look for. And while McQueen has size on O'Brien, it's not as if O'Brien is a small player either. O'Brien is the better all around player and it's not close.

IMO, 7OA is the earliest that a team should consider taking McQueen given the player potential and the associated risk. No team picking 1-6 should risk taking him because there are better options available. Once the consensus top six are gone, however, I think he is as good a pick as anyone else that is available at that point...if a team is willing to take the risk.

Disagree strongly

McQueen without any doubt has the higher ceiling.

O'Brien plays on a team with overagers and is playing 3rd fiddle. 50 of his 98 points are on the power play, the best power play in CHL

Lardis has 33 PPG that O'Brien is feeding off of. He's the 3rd best forward on his junior team and is a PP specialist. I like O'Brien but there's huge red flags
