Pretty sure those comments were about the end of the season after he's played his last year with them. If you remember with Demidov even after SKA's playoffs were over they could've prevented him from coming over since the contract lasted until the end of May. It's likely the not stand in the way comments are about once his KHL team's season is over they aren't going to be dicks and stand in his way, but that's very different from letting him come to TC since their season will have already started.

I think maybe I’m too stupid to understand by why that specific request was made or it’s just a stupid request. It’s a common practice drill that anyone who has played hockey has done since they were kids, nothing to go all gaga over. Some are just better at it than others, and unless anyone doing that drill was also a Jedi-knight, chances are that everyone is looking at their blade. It's easy to see just in those short clips, his legs are too straight and too hunched over. He needs to strengthen his legs, flex his knees more and straighten his back. The good news is once he gets going he can really move, he just has a tendency to fall back into the way he's always skated. The old technical patterns often need to be broken and that can take some time.

His will power to overcome obstacles is the most important part. How will he adjust to the less time/space at the NHL level. KHL is a very competitive league but it's not really that physical and there is more time/space.

Skating technique can be worked on but for me, obsession to improve is always the most important. Lets look at Kotkaniemi... awkward skating and us fans talked about that but what didn't he also have? The will power to be among the best. He's a complacent type

People are underestimating that fellow countrymen aspect when it's comes to immigrants... those same people probably never went to foreign country outside of the USA before, so they have no clue what it truly means.

Now imagine how Demidov would react if Zharovsky gets shipped out of town... lot of chances that he would be angry and sad.

Good point! And given the fact we probably want to extend Demidov this summer, trading Zharovsky before that could be tricky.

I don’t think both Russian kids should play on the same line. Demidov should be moved with Suzuki and Caufield. And Slaf should play on a second line with Hage and Zharovsky in the future.

Big part of why the top line works so well is Slafkovsky's board battles and puck retrievals, Ivan's fantastic but he doesn't bring that the same way.

We don’t know HuGo plans for those kids. They certainly want to have the most competitive team as soon as possible.

I would not be surprised to see Zharovsky play an additional year in the KHL unless he put on a notable amount of muscle. Very good spot developmentally for him with minutes and seemingly good coaching.

Sure, but we can look at patterns and see he strives to have different archetypes of players working towards to create cohesion in lines. That was a huge factor in the Slafkovsky and the Reinbacher picks was we didn't have that and they were very hard to find.

Zharovsky isn't going to go out there and be Beck Malenstyn but for a young guy who's still developing and adding strength he's a beast when it comes to puck protection.

Is it something common that KHL teams let their youngsters, drafted at NHL level, go to train over Summer with their future NHL team ?

Is he in Montreal to showcase him to other teams ?

The KHL can't tell players what to do in the offseason. It's like the NHL.
A lot of Russian NHLers actually train with their former KHL teams/coaches during summer.

But yea, this is rare for young KHLers. Probably because, unlike Montreal, nobody has a Demidov willing to take a fellow Russian under his wing all summer.

It shows how highly committed Demidov is to the Canadiens.

That is the MSL philosophy and what made him a great player.

It is great that athletes today have so many today to improve and hone their skills. Makes me feel like I grew up in the dark ages.
