I love Sam Bennett, but at what price? He is a 50 point player on a team loaded with talent. Are you expecting points or physicality? or both?Pass on all the Toronto players and give me Sam Bennett.

His biggest attribute is his playoff ability and by the time the Hawks are a playoff team he might be toast by the time that’s even applicable for Chicago.
He is a guy who will open up the ice for whoever kid(s) is on his line and will drop em when guys try and take liberties. Character guy. He won't age well as far as the backhalf of whatever deal he gets but even then, would still be a solid bottom 6 guy.
If he can stay healthy, Dach could be that kind of player. He is big, has skill and he has a little rat in himYou willing to pay him 7M+ and for 6-7 years? I love him but I just don’t think the Hawks are ready for that kind of deal for that type of player.
Hmmm idk, Sam Bennett is an extremely unique player and he's more talented than i think most are giving him credit for. He was one of Canada's best players in the Four Nations final. I dont really see Dach getting remotely close to that level of impact and if he has a little rat in him than Sam Bennett has a whole rat infestiation in him lolIf he can stay healthy, Dach could be that kind of player. No he’s not.So, you overpay the guy. He is a better leader than Foligno for these kids.
well said and agreeSorry not paying Bennett $7-8M AAV on a 7 year deal
He is about to turn 29, has had his share of injuries and is just a 40-50 pt player (On deep Panther teams)
Before going to Florida, he registered more than 30 pts once
Whoever gives Bennett big payday is going to regret it for years to come
Also, Bennett truly benefits greatly from playing on deep team and behind better talents like Reinhart, Barkov, Tkachuk and Verhaeghe. IMO Lundell is already a better player than him at this point as well
In Chicago he won't have that luxury of being supporting player around deep talented roster (Anytime soon at least)
I wouldnt give Bennett that type of money either. For the right price he would be a very nice addition. A little older than the core players, plays tough, winning track record, plays center where the Blackhawks need help...FOR THE RIGHT PRICE and TIME FRAME....I rather give Bennett a $6.5M AAV for 5 years than some monster deal for Marner.Sorry not paying Bennett $7-8M AAV on a 7 year deal

As gross as it is to say, being on a team that has gone deep into the postseason for multiple years is kind of a double-edge sword for me as far as projecting him forward into his 30s. That's a lot of wear and tear that comes with extra hockey and shorter offseasons. His biggest attribute is his playoff ability and by the time the Hawks are a playoff team he might be toast by the time that’s even applicable for Chicago.
No.Is there a chance to overpay for Knies and force Toronto into a shit situation? Not sure what pick the Hawks would give up if it was over 5 million per.
No.
He's already stated he's not interested in going the offersheet route.
Rantanen technically wasn't a ufa when he signed and he signed in a no tax state. Those are some significant differences.Rantanen signed for $12M is Marner really worth much more? Guentzal at $9M look pretty cheaper right now. With the cap going up, the Hawks have room to make some big signings as long as they are the right ones.

Plus Marner is 6 months younger and decent odds his game ages better than Rants. In addition to a higher tax state upcharge, I think the Hawks will have to pay a surcharge as a bad team for another year or two to win him over some other options he will have.Everything you said AND he got 8 years where Marner can only get 7 as a UFA.
Fire this one back up
