2025 26 Roster…too Soon

It's funny how the list brought Reichel up again. I'm about done with him and don't know what to do with him. We're going to add in free agency. I don't know who but it's going to happen and make the lineup crowded despite the team no being all that good. There likely won't be anywhere for him to fit. So what to do:

Trade him for another 'change of scenery guy' - Maybe? But who could we get for him and how might that fit into the crowded lineup?

Sell him for a draft pick - What would we get? A 4th? What good does that do for us?

Package him in a trade with some other spare parts and decent asset - With the cap going up, who could we really get for that?

It's just so frustrating because he's so talented and we're probably not going to get much out of him at all. What this team really needs is star scoring talent, the guy he could have become, and it's maddening.

You keep him. He proved he can play on the fourth line last year and there's a ton of upside.

Maybe. But that means that you'd have to have either Foligno, Veleno, or Slaggert play higher in the lineup. Not the worst thing in the world I guess. Would anyone have an appetite to package Reichel for Laine? I mean Laine is getting benched at this point and only has 1 year left on his deal. Fire away gents

Those guys can rotate on the 4th line

Laine seems to get benched everywhere he goes. Let some other team waste their time hoping he gets his shit together.

I’d take a chance on Laine if for no other reason to flip him at the TDL retained down to a low 4M hit. He’ll be in his peak prime from an age perspective next season. He can earn himself a lot of cash with a big season next year.

It’s not something I’d bet on turning into a home run, but the potential is there.

Wouldn’t have the slightest interest in him on a multi year deal, though.

UFA- Decent semi realistic options - I think Benn Tavares Nelson Giroux Marchand all dont consider Chicago

Marner
Bennett
Ehlers
Granlund
Appleton
Jeannot
Sturm

Provorov
Gavrikov
Orlov
Lindgren

If they're the worst team next year, they don't automatically lose the 1oa pick. They retain that spot unless someone leapfrogs them in the lotto.

If they win the lotto this year, they can't win the lotto next year.
I meant that we had lost the first pick to Leafs because Knies.

Bolded = No thanks, Appleton is a 4th liner looking for payday
Bolded + Underline = Absolutely not, Jeannot is trash and not worth more than league minimum as a crappy 4th liner

We don't need a defender especially a LD with our logjam on D

LD
Vlasic
Kaiser (RFA)
Del Mastro
Korchinski
Allan

RD
Rinzel
Levshunov
Murphy
Crevier (RFA)

There is literally no room for a D as it would block kids. And guys you listed will want to be overpaid and longterm deals, no thanks

Yes, those would be 4 line options.

Orlov fits a good window to fill that 2D roll helping Levshunov. Provorov and Gavrikov are probably too much but if they trade out Korch for offensive help maybe not.

Vlasic-Rinzel
?-Levshunov
EDM-?

f*** no lmao Laine is a bum and a toxic personality. He is even more of toxic influence than Jones was

We have to spend money. If filling a LD spot allows you to have an overflow of talent. Thats not a bad thing.

Vlasic-Rinzel
Orlov-Levshunov
Del Mastro-Murphy
Kaiser/Crevier

Korchinski-Allan

Murphy gone at the deadline. Injuries.

here's an interesting stat for all you young kids and retirees alike: should the blackhawks miss the playoffs next season, it will be the most seasons in a row the team has missed the playoffs (6) since the seasons spanning 1947-1952.

And how many teams were in the league then? Oh that’s right 6

yeah they've already tied the modern team record from '03 to '08. if you really want to be a stickler then you could put an asterisk on the 2020 playoffs, but i give it to them if for no other reason than corey crawford won a game against vegas that series.

Tavares had 38 goals and 74 points. I would throw a short term deal at him with decent money. He has been a leader/Captain in NYI and TOR. Hawks have lots of money available and need to get to the cap floor

Hard to see him leaving Toronto

Probably willing to take a pay cut to retire there

It would have to be a big pay cut. Half to more than half his cap hit. But hey if Toronto wants to give him 7-8 mil per and it hurts them on resigning Knies (assuming Marner is staying) then by all means.

If Taveras doesn’t take a pay cut to stay in Toronto I’d imagine he still signs somewhere cheap to go Cup chasing.
