Of note is that only six players remain that Davidson has no ‘owernship’ over(Murphy, Dach, Allan, Kayumov, Stjernborg and Safanov)…he truely has turned this into his team now

what do you mean by this? Murphy, Vlasic, Reichel, Commesso, Slaggert, Kaiser, Crevier, Soderblom, Allan, C. Dach, Harding, Del Mastro were all "in the system" before Bowman got canned.

In terms of current contract?

Davidson either resigned or signed Vlasic, Reichel, Commesso, Slaggert, Kaiser, Crevier(his first signing), Soderblom, Harding and Del Mastro…Davidson has chosen to either sign or not sign players, so when he ‘decides’ to do either I feel his stamp is on that player

Allan and Dach were drafted and signed by Bowman, Davidson may eventually resign them…Murphy is the last ‘true’ NHLer on thr roster that Davidson wasn’t GM

Gotcha yeah, in terms of their contract.

What do the Canucks want as (rumored) return for EP?
AFAIK - VAN GM has just said that he would consider all options (aka - general GM speak). IMO, if VAN would move EP that they'd be in rebuild mode and would likely want futures/prospects. With that said - they could also try to do a 1-1 "hockey deal", but given EP's contract that seems unlikely given the rarity of players (at his peak).

Even with a terrible season EP is averaging 86 points over 82 games over the last three years. He's a 100 point center that has Selke votes. The price is going to HURT.
While I agree in general over the last 3 years (2023, 2024, 2025):

P/GM: 1.25/1.1/.75
G/GM: .5/.4/.25

I know there was drama last year, but his play didn't turn-around after JTM was moved and he absolutely cratered. It's HUGELY risky adding a guy with "mental" issues who is owed $11.4M per for another 6 years.

Tar and feather me if you must. I trade #3 or #4 overall this year for EP with like 1.6 million retention. I hate this draft after 2. Hate it. And I loved EP before this year.

i don't think pettersson is actually a 15 goal forward. i think even on the lowly hawks you could easily expect at least a 20+ goal 70+ point rebound season from him, maybe reunited with a renewed mikheyev. not the worst option in the world as far as i am concerned. i also know nothing about this draft besides what hearsay i've read here. trading a top 5 pick for him straight up seems like a steep price for a distressed asset on the books of a motivated seller.

My bet would be on Bs or Islanders to trade for EP

Maybe a Barzal back the other way. No idea Bs but they got a few pieces back at deadline

@Taze em too, He’s either injured/playing hurt or below his potential, even last year when Vancouver was playing well. He was terrible in the playoffs and acted like he couldn’t give less of a shit about it when asked. Something is off with him.

I guess it depends on whether our FO thinks anyone available at 3 or 4 can be a 70+ point forward or not.

I think it has more to do with compete level.

I'd rather draft a 60 point winner, than have an 80 point loser on the roster.

For the record, I like EP (or at least you used to) but I just have no idea what's going on with him. He's starting to remind me of Laine who had a brilliant start to his career, and then petered out.

Kreider and Nelson are old as shit
I agree that they are older, but still effective and would be on short term deals. You wouldn't marry yourself to any long term deals that would affect the kid takeover. Krieder is making $6.5 with one year remaining. NYR will be looking to get back into the playoffs and will try to move a guy like him the way that the BOS moved Hall. Nelson played the 6th highest minutes last night for COL in the playoffs (18 minutes), he is still an effective player and a veteran with size who plays the game the right way.

Or just do Ehlers for less. Marner will be too big of a contact at 12-14M/yr

What kind of deals are expected for Ehlers, Nelson, Boeser, Bennett etc...I'd think 5-7 years at 7-8m+ per and thats not very appetizing
