2025 26 Roster…too Soon

Dickinson has barely played on the powerplay his whole career, 150 total powerplay minutes in his career. Stars get that in half a season. This year, with the Hawks actually having a good powerplay, would be an odd time for him to suddenly become mopey about it.

the signings and trades in the offseason will be fun to watch

lets hope that KD does not do anything that will jeopardize the rebuild.

any incoming trade recipient better be in the 23-28 age range that fits the rebuild.

Pumped to see this young team move forward, grow and develop.

You can tell we are seeing the emergence of a natural leader in Rinzel, that guy is a future Captain IMO. So calm, cool, collected, for him to step in straight away take such high time on ice, more than Vlasic on most nights.

he is 20...

Unfortunately, there’s going to be huge amounts of internal and external pressure to make Bedard captain. Currently I'm not convinced that he should be de facto penciled into that role. Let’s see this thing unfold organically. The real leader will emerge.

As an aside, Bedard has many small superstitious/ocd behaviors, a lot of which are noticeable in the skate just before the game.

All these washed up vets can go take a long walk off a short pier if they are unhappy with their position here. It's a team in a rebuild and you're in a filler position, being blind to your circumstance is on you. I wonder how much they poisoned the well with the younger guys in the room.

I don't want to get all into this AGAIN, but maybe Foligno could've said something in a post game presser. Something like "we need the vets on this team to start buying into and being good mentors for all the kids coming through".

Either way if KD is going to "be more choosey" with signing guys this offseason it looks like he learned his lesson from last year and we've nothing to worry about.

Folingos done that multiple times. Notably after Hall trade, he kinda stood up for how Hall was and in March a bit after the Jones trade. He's even had plenty other calling out pressers last year.

I'm trying to think of any vet who was playing reasonably well that lost ice time to a kid. Craig Smith maybe? Maroon at the end? But he didn't seem like the kind of guy to get Grumpy. Brodie sure but he even admitted that he's been terrible. Hall got benched once and does Kurashev count as a vet?

Lot of energy wasted worrying about a 4th line center (on an actual good team) who was so washed he had to have a 2nd round pick attached to him to have the Hawks take him. To his credit, he parlayed a couple good season into a contract and followed up with a turd of a season for that sweetheart contract he was handed. Hope he is not mistaking being the tallest midget (also know as the ABC line back in the dark days) on terrible teams that he is actually good at hockey.

Dickinson basically gave the Tyler Johnson postseason press conference.

I think it sounds worse as a tweet.

I saw the whole video interview and I would say that rather than being negative, Dickinson strikes me as someone who is pragmatic.

Instead of being optimistic, he understands that things don't always pan out in this league, and he's also not privy to what the front office is going to do.

Do I prefer hearing from Foligno about how excited he is for the future, and the growth he's seen from this team? Absolutely. But with Dickinson, I think it's just a different way of looking at things. I don't he's being toxic, if that's what your impression is.

Way too much hate at Dickinson. The guy got legit, deserved Selke votes last year. He's a very good defensive centre and would be a 3C on a lot of good teams.

Yeah I just watched the Dickinson interview and totally different from the Tyler Johnson one. He's gone through the pain of 2 losing seasons and there was excitement going into this season and then they kept getting run out of town this preseason.

He's also a really bright guy and some of the questions that the press corps ask are so dumb and lazy and I could see why anyone, especially him, would be annoyed by that. I'm still excited for him to be our 3rd line center next season but could theoretically be down to the 4th line if Bedard and Nazar are here and we sign another center.

Kurashev is a negative asset. He has to be qualified at 2.25 and has arbitration rights which his agent will use his 54 pt season to bamboozle an arbitrator into something even more silly. Hawks (and anyone who would consider trading for him) will be walking away from him at probably the qualifying offer and certainly after his arbitration award.

Hawks put out some content a month ago or so asking players a question and Bedard kept jokingly saying Dickinson is old, cant imagine he mention him if he was not liked or toxic in the room, particularly toward the young players.
I was looking for that to post. Dickinson wasn't too happy in that video. I think the YT channel deleted it.

Didn't realize he was pissed in that video lol...its on their tiktok page still, does look like they deleted it from YT for some reason
I think the jist of it was Dickinson said "everyone is going to say me" when they talk about whos the oldest which he didnt say in any jokingly way. It's also interesting that everyone thinks he is the oldest despite Martinez, Foglino, and Maroon on the roster all of which are 8 years olden than him. Like maybe Dickinson is the whipping boy of the young guys.

I am definitely reading way too much into this and its probably not that though right?...
