While the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs are still in full swing, the league has released the full schedule for the upcoming season.

Of note: Greensboro joins the North Division away from the other Zawyer owned teams in the South.

ECHL releases 2025-26 schedule
Thursday, May 15th

The ECHL announced on Thursday that the 2025-26 season opens with eight games on Friday, Oct. 17 and continues with 13 games on Saturday, Oct. 18 with Opening Weekend concluding with seven games on Sunday, Oct. 19.

Formed in 1988-89 with five teams in four states, the ECHL has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 30 teams in 23 states and one Canadian province playing 1,080 games from Oct. 17, 2025 to April 12, 2026. It marks the most games in the League since 31 teams played 1,116 games during the 2003-04 season.

The only logical reason would be to help Norfolk's travel budget. But then it's only 6 + 6.

Like Indy last year, the Komets will open with a major road trip as the Coliseum gets updated. That will include a 3 game road trip to Florida the first week of November.

Gargoyles name Burt as team's first head coach
Wednesday, June 4th

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Gargoyles, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes and the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves, announced that Scott Burt has been named the first head coach in team history.

Burt, 48, brings over 13 years of coaching experience to the Gargoyles. He comes to Greensboro after spending the past four seasons as Head Coach and General Manager of the Rapid City Rush, earning 130 career coaching wins. ...

Prior to becoming the head coach in Rapid City, Burt served as an assistant coach for the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads (2019-20) and the Alaska Aces (2011-2013), while also spending six seasons as an assistant coach with the Western Hockey League’s Spokane Chiefs from 2013-2019. ...
