Inside track is a good phrase. You can't win an NHL spot for the next season from the AHL, but you can win inside track for the training camp to win it from there. Sounds like Brunicke is doing everything right to get that.

That said, while I do believe in their belief about Brunicke, I'm not sure it'd take that much for them to trust the role to JSI or Soloyvov to begin the season if he doesn't keep it up.

I would play JSI and Solovyov over him right now without a doubt. Rushing Brunicke makes no sense, he has a lot of great raw tools and a ton of promise, they already did him dirty with their brain dead game management bullshit. Let him play and get better at his game.

Officiating getting hilarious again.
Literally tackling players and that holding by the Pens was pretty bad in front of the ref that wasn't called, before that Johnstone did the same and held a Penguin and no call. It's pretty brutal. Like blatant penalties in front of the ref and the ones they do call, there's no consistency at all. Just literally officiating the score and trying to make the spread it seems.

Calvert got cross checked so hard the ref sprinted to him to make sure he was okay.. no call though.

Brutal shift by Breazeale - Pieniniemi there. Might as well have just saved time and shot it into the net themselves.
It's been giveaway after giveaway by the Pens this period. Call a time out, there's enough time to battle back but yeah no time out, sloppy defense, feels way too familiar.
