Any word on the visa issues with our two Russians? Would be great to see what we have in Bondarev
I don't think it will be a problem. Bondarev is already with the team. Has been for over a week now. Im sure both him and Smirnov will have it resolved soon if not already

Fraser McDonell has been removed from the Gens pre-season roster. (Not unexpected)

Ethan Neller & Lewis Hergaarden have been removed from the Generals pre-season roster.

My observations from training camp to date:

The defence is surprisingly deeper in talent than I expected. They’re very young, but this will hasten the trade of Danford - - and most likely Sandhu as well. O’Toole could serve as the 7th defenceman, assuming he’s able to return from his shoulder injury.

I haven’t seen Smirnov or Bondarev play yet so I can’t comment on their ability, but Onni Kalto looks underwhelming. He loves to stick handle - - and then stick handle some more until he eventually turns the puck over - - but he’s very disinterested on the defensive end.

Took in today’s game. You could see by the amount of bubbles and cages that Oshawa went all young while Guelph did not.
Not much to write home about as most players fighting for a spot looked pretty disinterested today. Bondarev was the only real shining light. Quite calm back there for a first year 08 goalie. He looks like a veteran, plays the puck very well. Only reason the young Gens had a sniff at this game. He’s going to be fun to watch. I liked Lobo. Roberts looks like a gamer. Other than that not really a lot. Once Senneke Danford and Wang are traded there’s going to be a lot of third periods in the bar on Friday night games.

Laschon looks lost our there. Was the most glaring defenseman out there today, likely will be cut and the Gens will have their 7 D for the season to start.

I also see Pylypuik and Hyuck being in the next round of cuts.

Murnane I think has earned his spot on this team. Had a great camp and hasn't looked out of place. He may be the 7th man and swap in but he's earned a spot.

Feeley looks good also.

Blaseg is looking good, really beefed up over the summer. Expect him to be an every nighter and move up in the lineup as the season progresses.

Kalto was kinda invisible tonight as others have said, need more from him.

Ethan Toms is frustrating. Im finding it hard to find a reason to keep him around. He did not look good tonight, his faceoffs weren't great, out of position on a few passes. I know we are short centres but there has to be better options out there. I expect him to remain on the team but I also wouldn't be shocked if he gets let go

Teixeira may make this team after being cut from Guelph but its hard to say, he showed enough tonight to stick around the rest of preseason.

Posthumus looks like he's ready to be an OHL player and a leader on a very young team thats in rebuild.

I think Hinde might also get cut before season starts and let him play Jr.B this year. Not quite ready.

Bondarev was the main shining light tonight. 3 of the 4 goals were bang-bang plays where he was out numbered but he also kept the game from being 7-1.

I see him and Gravelle fighting the first half of the season to see who is 'the guy" but likely will be a ride the hot hand season. Gravelle is definitely gonna have a shorter leash than I think he once thought which is good. Competition is good for business.

Gonna be a bumpy year though, thats for sure.

Not a great game from Oshawa and I’m concerned this was a foreshadowing of how the season is going to unfold.

Bondarev was decent in net and showed a nice glove hand. Unfortunately he’s not going to be the saviour in net. He’s not very quick or agile which is somewhat surprising because he’s only 5’11 and not an overly big goalie. He’s certainly not going to go side to side the way Oster could. And when he gets down in the butterfly he doesn’t get back on his feet very quickly.

As I explained previously during training camp, Leo Laschon looks like a 10th round pick. He just doesn’t have the foot speed to play at this level. And it’s compounded when he tries to pinch as we saw on Guelph’s third goal.

They're going to suck this year, but im not putting too much weight into yesterdays game. What even was that super green line up? It was a sink or swim game for any of the fringe guys. I'll give Toms a little more leeway since he's always been buried in the line up yet he's at least shown some signs of improvement each season.

and the goalie is not 5”11. He is well over 6 foot. Listed 6”5. Reminds me of Ken Appleby as a big monster in net.
I’ll leave judgement of the team and how they make out when the actual line up is put together. There will be growing pains for sure but that’s what a development league is

Can someone tell me where it says Bondarev is only 5'11? What did he lose half a foot on the plane ride? Hahaha. The kid is 6'5 off skates.

Yesterday’s “super green lineup” is pretty much what Oshawa is going to icing this season.

Sennecke and Danford will both be traded to recoup some of the draft picks that were squandered away over the past two years, so you can’t count on them for anything.

That means it’s just Griffin, Sandhu and Wang being added to the “super green lineup” that was completely dominated yesterday.

Will those three be enough to get Oshawa into the playoffs?

I’ve heard some gossip that Sennecke may go play pro in Europe if he doesn’t make NHL

Anaheim is not letting him go to Europe. They have the final say and will want him close to keep an eye on him and have people work with him.
I don’t disagree, I’m just saying it’s what I heard at a rink over the weekend chatting with a couple dads who have other drafted kids….

Take that for what it’s worth. Last year it was Oster wants to play pro in Europe and he’s no coming back. People love to start rumours
