If Guelph is awarded the memorial cup, Burnett probably accepts the best offer for Luchanko.
Well given that they’re supposed to announce it some time in late november/early December I think it’s pretty obvious that if Guelph is still trying to bid for it they’ll likely be trading him at some point to make a stronger bid for it since he’s definitely not in the league next year.

There won’t be any waiting until January for a 16 year old. They’ll try and get the best package of 17/18 year olds and picks they can get

The Guelph bid was strengthened by the re-assignment of Luchanko. The selection committee through its’ comprehensive process including presentations is already aware Guelph’s plan should it be awarded the memorial cup.
Guelph can move now or Jan 10 without affecting their bid, unless Burnett accepts a less than ideal return for Luchanko prior to the host being named.

Yep and I guarantee it’s not keeping Luchanko around. I wonder if he even plays a game with Guelph or if he’s traded in the next week(but definitely traded by mid December)

What happens if he comes back and plays his first game and gets injured like Caleb Desnoyers last night? Then they’re really screwed.

Well that would really suck. We shall see. Maybe there is a great package that is simply too good to refuse host or non-host for Luchanko already agreed to. Otherwise, I very much doubt Burnett is already ‘all-in’ on hosting. It is probably more like plan A and plan B.

Rumblings this morning Luchanko and maybe even Paquette will be moved to Brantford or Windsor. I would think Brantford / Malholtra is our first choice and Paquette may be the sweetner needed to get it done.

Who knows where or when he goes. The phones are ringing and discussions being had, but if the return offered from Windsor was Lemieux + picks I'd turn it down. Similarily if Brantford didn't want to part with Malhotra. Short of a Malhotra or Belchetz move, which I don't know if either of those clubs would go for, I'd wait for the window for '09 1st rounders to open up. If Windsor and centered around Lemieux/Luchanko I'd look for Makysh to be included, that kid is intruiging/could be huge on offence next season.

Lemieux, Makysh and picks for Luchanko and Paquette. Who says no?

No, hold out till January for the MacDougall kid (1st Rd 2025), plus Hicks, plus picks. Be greedy.
I wonder about that happening but only thing is about the memorial cup and how they’re announcing it late November-early December I’d think they want to make those moves before their deadline for that

If its Brantford, no discussion would start unless the first words out the Brantford GM's mouth is I'll give you Malholtra plus..... If we want a player in return, it has to be an established player that is just coming into his own and will develop into an impact player next year. An 09, would still be developing when we want a player that can play a significant roll next year.

I still want Oshawa to go full on fire sale now that their moves have started, bring Griffin to Gryphon land.

Lev Katzin 10 games 0 pts in NCAA. Wonder if he comes back to the OHL soon. Already have seen a guy jump ship in and go back to the WHL.

Imagine that for the mem cup bid. Katzins 19 year old season plus whatever you get for Luchanko and Paquette. A lot of what ifs but if they came to fruition I think you have a real chance at hosting despite Kitchener having a way bigger arena

Unfortunately for the Storm no unless he still wants a career in hockey outside the NHL.

Worse than the 0 points is the 4th line average of 4 minutes per game as per OHL4life. That isn't going to fast track his development when compared to 15-20 min per game in the O.

Compare 06 Barabanov with Saginaw who decided to leave Penn State 7 14 21 in 15 games. Easier for him as he was not even projected top 12, Katzin and Misa were top 9.

Penn currently has 12 new F commits for next year.

Rumblings in MidwestStorm's mind. While Luchanko may be involved in a trade, my hunch is that this trade may not happen until the deadline after world juniors. While something may be pulled off anytime, this team has not shown it is competitive enough to host Memorial Cup. Luchanko can help the team put some wins together, establish a PP, learn how to win consistently. Coach Stillman is feeling the heat at this time.

Where does Skvortsov go is an immediate concern. Hard to trade an import. The roster numbers will be reduced eventually in some way. Paquette is not part of any trade at this time.

I would not be very surprised if Luchanko is not traded at all. Maybe just Skvortsov and spare pieces for a few extra picks, which the storm should have lots of if pushing extra ‘26 (2nd, 3rds) further into the future.

If they don’t trade him they’re definitely not winning any memorial cup bids which is the ultimate goal this season- building towards next year.

There might be 3 weeks before a decision is made, if it has not already been decided.
The storm already has at least 20 players to make decisions on for next season. Maybe it is decided that the best way to build towards next season is see how the current players perform in a competitive environment.

The storm did not, maybe could not or would not move Luchanko for Wassylin. The bulldogs acquiring Luchanko and Paquette when acquiring Danford and Sandhu would have been pretty spectacular, but that did not happen.
If not Maholtra or Wassylin, what do you think Burnett goes for? Does Luchanko even want to be moved to another team?

Half the forwards on this team are not ever going to be mem-cup quality. Not a knock on them, all rosters are bloated right now since cards don't have to be sorted until mid November. Guelph absolutely needs to get a good player in return for Luchanko or as said above, next year will also be sad to watch. That doesn't mean it has to be before the deadline though... a highly rated '09 1st would add to the team for next year as well with Wycisk. Then at next year's deadline blow all those stockpiled picks/extra players and next years' 1st rounder to get the BPA(s).

Next year's top 6 as it stands would be Wycisk, Stevens, McLean, Snelgrove, and? Maybe McFadden and/or Shybinsky? It definitely needs an upgrade. Malhotra, Griffin, Makysh, Edgar...

That seems a bit dramatic for a 0.500 team not having an impact 19 yr old play a game. Ideally the storm gets a player that can impact next season for Luchanko, but that might not happen.
Edgar is likely off the table. Griffin would likely have to wait for the Guelph ‘10-1st if not traded for an ‘09-1st this season. Might have to wait for Maholtra too.
It is hard to say what does come available. And there is the chance that Luchanko goes nowhere other than Guelph or London.

And why is that lol?
Edgar is likely off the table.
Why is that? Niagara is buying, they have no picks and just traded away Wassilyn what makes you think they won’t trade Edgar away for the right deal?

London isn’t buying this year. Ask anyone but a certain poster on the London board and they’ll tell you the same. Why would Luchanko waste his year on a 0.500 team? You’re not making any sense at all please just quit.
