2025-2026 AUS Thread

Gentile leaving SMU is a huge blow. I thought for sure he would be sticking around for his final year since they are hosting Nationals. Going to be a real challenge to compete.

While I don’t disagree that it’s a massive hole losing the best player in the conference, it’s also June.3 and as AUS Fan pointed out on the Recruiting thread the number of commits not only from the CHL but in general is way down from this time a year ago.
No one really knows what anyone looks like next year …. which honestly has me pretty excited for this season.

Every year when we get a few games into the Cup Final I start feening for AUS hockey lol, just knowing my hockey supply is about to be cut off … The fall cannot come quick enough lol

Might need to start following the Australian League in the summer.

COVID + NCAA season starting earlier has killed a lot of the fun/unique matchups we used to see.
I can’t even remember the last exhibition game I actually looked forward to… Maybe Poland ?

I miss the Fall Classic and the tournament style Pete Kelly Cup… not always the most exciting matchups but we at least got to watch a few non UNB matchups we wouldn’t normally get without travelling.

One of the best things about CIS hockey has always been that it offers a non-conference schedule and interesting matchups. The Bisons have at least had Lakehead visit the last three seasons, plus a visit from Ukraine's U23 Universiade team (which drew 8,000 fans). Some OUA teams have travelled. Maybe this will pick up.
