Just came here to say this. This was the stupidest and lamest outcome possible and all it took was nearly $700 million in combined team salaries. Whatever MLB. Bask in the glow of your barrage of advertisements to the teams with the biggest bandwagon following in the country. The moment MLB has been waiting for since the Dodgers entered their own Free Spending Era.
You do not have a salary cap because the owners do not want one.Just came here to say this. MLB needs a salary cap. Like 20 years ago. And we dont have one because this is what we'd have every year if MLB had its way

Cheap pieces of shit like Nutting in Pittsburgh are more than happy to be subsidized by the Yankees and Dodgers. He makes money before even selling a ticket at PNC.
Rich owners are happy to be able to do what they want with their toy.
MLB's economic model is successful for the owners, they have no incentive to change it. As a Pirates fan, I would love a salary cap... if it came with a salary floor AND rules against with Arizona did in the NHL (taking on LTIR contracts paid by insurance to reach the floor).
More than anything the small market teams don't want a salary floor and no owner wants baseball's Financials to go publicThis is exactly it. If the owners wanted a cap, they'd get one. You don't even hear the small market/less wealthy owners complaining about a lack of salary cap.

Honestly, why would Nutting do it? Like he will never vote for a salary cap/floor.View attachment 919379
get a salary floor first
teams like Pittsburgh and Florida and Boston skate by with owners refusing to spend any money to improve their team
This was your opportunity to openly attack the Rays and you didn't take it. I am disappointView attachment 919379

Why though? They're extremely high risk contracts. What they really need is to end the deferrals. They have to ban in the next CBA what LA did with that Ohtani contract.
Not when you have the kind of money the Dodgers have. Why though? They're extremely high risk contracts.
Every owner in the league is a billionaire. The fact that some don't want to spend money on their teams is not the Dodgers problem. Not when you have the kind of money the Dodgers have.
They probably already put the money in escrow and the only reason they did it was to reduce their luxry tax bill and be able to add other players.
