I kinda' dig the symmetry of facing the team we played in week 1 -- see where we stack up now. (Understanding that they've improved since then, too.)

Mayfield is a problem. His escape and execution has been Hurts-like all season. Their best bet is just keeping them off the field and getting a few turnovers.

Tampa should be a field goal favorite.

Mike Evans against this defense, what could go wrong?
One guy. Lattimore knows him well.

Let’s not be negative Nelly’s?

Of course Mayfield is.

BUT so is Daniels. Let’s see what our guy can do.

I honestly expect to win their WC game. And then maybe a re-seed to 1 or 4/5 (can’t play 2 if we win and 7 loses….just saying)

He is, but of the 3 QB we could have faced, Baker is the one most likely to throw a pick or two.

I'll also co-sign the notion that Lattimore has decent results against Evans. And while McMillan has come on over the past few weeks, he still doesn't approach the threat level of D. Smith and C. Kupp as secondary weapons. Mikey should match up reasonably well against him.

I think Mayfield presents more problems than Stafford at this stage. And Kupp is not 100%.

I’d still probably want Tampa bc McVay is a better coach than Todd Bowles but I have Tampa as a slight favorite.

If Lattimore plays and plays well no reason they couldn’t steal this one.

Yeah, Lattimore playing changes the tables a lot. If he can go I like our odds. If he doesn’t I still think we have a decent chance but certainly won’t feel as good.

Yep, and we’ve got lots of video from the previous matchup to dissect.

Yes, of course, but it will take a few years before we have similar talent. We will have to temper our expectations somewhat. It will take time to get the roster fixed. This is Brad Holmes 3rd full season with Detroit. They were a hot mess when he got there in Jan 2021.
3 years out is where my head is at….

Maybe our three year prediction was too gloomy? Happy to be off by a bit :D

Darnold is not a 50 million dollar QB. He blew it early.

I can’t imagine Daniels throwing to Jefferson Addison and Hockenson and going 1-12 or whatever in the red zone.

Yeah, if MIN had any notion that they might look into flipping JJ McCarthy for picks this off-season, Darnold has shown them that they may not be as set with him at QB as folks may have thought.

I took a stroll through the first 7 or 8 pages of this behemoth of a thread. Some great takes (mostly by me:D) and some pretty, um, interesting takes also... plus the whole Ben Johnson misdirection. It was early in the JD vs DM debate, but sides were being drawn. Also in all my mocks I was able to trade down and still land JD... turns out now we know, other teams wanted to trade up for him, so no chance we could have traded down and got him.

In the end, Peters knocked it out of the park and we have our rookie franchise QB, for the first time in my old ass life. RGIII was a myth, it never actually happened.
