Whitt couldn’t confuse Trey Lance once today. This is what I’m talking about, the difference between a guy who can only have a decent defense with top end talent and a guy who can make lemonade from lemons (Spagnola type). Whitt is not the latter. Unless you are Howie Roseman, who can draft his way to cheap talent yearly (Peters did ok in the draft but to date nothing special outside of JD5 and Sainristil), you need more than a JAG d-coordinator.

Usually guys like Newman show flashes, consistency is the issue early on. He shows no flashes. Nothing, nada. He’s had enough time this season to improve some coming off the injury. I see a guy who’s not particularly quick or powerful and gets manhandled one on one by blockers. Short of Dejean getting a serious injury, it’s not even close.
