Only three openings right now, but I imagine the could be a few more when the season ends. Hope we keep him for another year to provide continuity for JD, but KK is going to leave too soon.

I do trust DQ to find/promote a quality replacement. DQ has had about as flawless of a first year as could be imagined. Any critiques are nit picking IMO.
Yeah I’m hoping we get another year out of him. I worry more about a team like the Cowboys….a more prestigious job. Chicago is an unattractive role IMO by comparison.

I only hope KK has bought in here and sees the chance to be part of something special, and like Ben Johnson….waits…and hones his skill further while waiting for a better opportunity. Hard to see him getting a 3rd chance as a HC if he flops again so soon.

I think what is best for KK is to stay at least one more year (maybe two). We won’t keep him forever, but he will grow his stock by staying another year and really showing out. We need some pieces on offense for sure, but this year can be built on.

And as @CapitalsCupReality noted he can’t afford to fail at HC role again. Take a couple of years and grow a bit.

I agree that KK is certain to go after/get another HC job, I'm just not convinced he wants to jump after one year as a coordinator. Obviously, I could be wrong.

The only thing that makes me think CHI is a real possibility is the connection to Caleb. But here's the rub on that front: unless he truly believes Caleb is better, does he really quit being Jayden's OC to be Caleb's HC? Especially, to CCR's point above, knowing that if he bombs out in CHI (which is pretty damned easy to do) he might be an OC forever -- and have walked away from JD and into a much lesser QB.

I mean, you don't dump a supermodel to date the counter chick at Blimpie.

I’ll be honest if KK does bolt after this season, I think he fails out again within 2-3 years tops. I get that there are only so many of these jobs and chances, but damn, learn more from DQ, be sure, and then move. Be the guy calling plays for JD5, elevate him to MVP tier, then watch your rate go up and have a shot at even better franchises…

And even if you dump one supermodel for another, that’s a lateral move unless there is something more special you’re leaving for….(again Cowboys scare me)…

I hear Chucky is in the pool of candidates this offseason as well….wild as he has an outstanding lawsuit against the league….

Round 1 - Pick 26

PROJECTED TEAM

PROSPECT RNK

59th

POSITION RNK

7th

Washington has done the best it could to patch the offensive line in recent years, but with Jayden Daniels in place, it is full speed ahead. Cameron Williams is a bit raw, but has all the traits to be an impact lineman.

Rank 59th? Feels like a reach lets not do that and trade down and get more picks.

I'm hoping Warren slides down to the commanders pick.

No one wants KK to leave. I just think he will. What more can he do, other than perhaps get worse?

He’s created this JD5 thing (not in a vacuum), and his start is sparkling.

He’s gonna get some 5x5m contract offer and he should take it. Unless it’s the Giants, Jets, or the Browns.

New Orleans would be hard, bc Sal cap and talent level.

But……Dallas? Chicago? New England? Jacksonville? Las Vegas? I’d say could happen. For sure.

We will see. But I would be far less surprised about it, than it seems most on here would be.

I think the odds are he goes. I hope I am wrong!

I do hope KK stays at least another season. What I really do not want is to see him leave and a completely differnt offensive scheme get put in for JD's second season.

GG to Mclurin and Ertz single handedly helping one of my peers at work win his NFL fantasy league for 350 bucks. Even though he is an Eagles/Flyers fan.

NE and Vegas are set at HC. What’s left? Dallas and a bunch of shit options.

Lots of talk of Mayo getting canned. Vrabel is the most likely to succeed, but who knows?

Same w Pierce. Talk that Brady is going to be a lot more assertive and get his own leaders.

I know you don’t like the idea — hell, I don’t either — but I’m being realistic

Like I said. I don’t see this as being stable.

I see Mayo as more stable than Pierce. Mayo was basically hand picked by Kraft.

That said, that loss against the Chargers had “quit” written all over it. And if it happens again this weekend?

Pierce is cooked, IMO. Tom Terrific will get his man. And it could easily be Vrabel. That makes sense

I think JAX is a sneaky good option. If you believe in T-Law, it’s a decent roster. You probably get a clean sweep - so, new GM. Their owner is willing to spend and stay hands off. And then you have a weak division, no state income tax, and nice weather. I could see Ben Johnson picking them over CHI.

The Bears search will be interesting to see if the league still views Caleb as a generational talent. I dunno about KK there (Caleb Williams could be anything! He could even be a Jayden Daniels!)

I think he would be terrible with a combative Chicago media. I don’t really like him as a “leader of men” kinda guy. Seems happy being a nerdy OC for now - hope he stays. He has one more shot at HC and will probably be cautious.

Chicago would be a pressure cooker. That said, they don’t fire HC’s, hardly ever (was *never* before Eberflus).

Edit — meant in season

I could also see Ben Johnson choosing someplace else over his current team’s division rival. Bears are a mess….no top candidate should covet that job. Make Chucky go there…

I agree.

Which brings me back to KK….

😂😂
He’s among the top candidates….therefore…

Look I’m hardly saying it’s unlikely KK goes to Chicago, but if he does, he’ll fail. Lots of easy connections, almost too easy for him to go there.

I just hope he’s smart enough to seek and is getting sage counseling to advise him of that probability of failure.

I don’t think the Bears are a shit hole. Especially if they get a new GM.

Williams is far different than any previous QB options they have had (Fields and Trubisky don’t count as good), and QB’s make the team, as we all witness.

He hires the Best DC $$$ can buy. He allows that guy to hire his own D staff, and he gets the O.

The spend money and draft capital on their O-line, and bam.

Not hard to see

I think the Poles piece is crucial. I doubt a top HC would want to be hired by a lame duck GM. Seems like a mistake that org makes repeatedly though…

But, I agree that Caleb might be enough to entice someone to try and transcend the dysfunction. That’s the million $ question - does the league still view him like they did a year ago? KK would know his work habits, and what he’s like behind closed doors.

I know it’s mostly agent smoke, and rumor mill. But, we’ve heard Pete Carroll, Vrabel, Johnson, Flores, KK, and now McCarthy in connection w/ the Bears job.

No idea how much, if any of that, is real. But, it’s still a lot of smoke.

So with a lot of IFs they’re at best a decent option…pass.
