Sucks it took the NFL 3 days to credit Newton with his first career sack. Quinn got it corrected. Johnny promised to baptize all the teams that passed on him on draft day. Daniel Jones is lined up to be his next victim.

I assume all fans have seen this Baldy piece on Newton but if not, its mandatory viewing. He had me at: Hands like Anvils

The strategy of going after guys who had lots of experience and were captains/leaders sure seems like a good one so far.
Yeah but no. Ron did the same same thing. He wanted leaders — but he picked the wrong leaders.

Talent wins. Peters has been …seemingly, as it’s still early….. good at finding talent.

I recall this board was ultra unhappy with Newton being picked. Having 2 “stud” DT’s made it seem like a bad choice.

And now? Allen out for the year (forever, as a Skin, I’m think) and that 20m salary slot can be much better used.

I love Allen. But off we go?

That's how I see it. Go with Payne/Newton next year and use the cap space elsewhere.

I wouldn’t go that far….but there were other attractive options….the thought being we already had 2 stud DTs…..it was just a surprise. Hard not to like the pick after the fact when he had a 1st round grade.

Maybe they had already projected that Allen was “gone” after this year….

Yeah it was a surprise for me re: Newton more than anything. For me the NFL is probably the hardest for me trying to resist drafting for need versus BPA. Now that we have some legit good draft evaluators 'finally' it could be a new day for me.

Totally…it’s because you can draft and realize the satisfier of that need immediately if you grab the right guy…not much cooking to do after the draft with slightly older guys vs 18 yr olds…
