Helle has come a long way.
Remember when we cringed everytime he came out to play the puck cause sometime he would make a blunder.
He is so more competent out of the net
Some who have been here long enough remember I had to defend Helly early in his career and not just with playing the puck lol
The pitch forks and torches were out back then.

he's nearing hasek level dominance vs rest of the league. if he doesn't win a cup might be one of the bigger wastes of all-time level's of dominance and differentiators on the ice.
Helly needs to do his part come playoffs, and I’m his biggest fan

At times, I think people don’t appreciate his brilliance because he doesn’t have as many highlight reel saves. But that’s just because his positioning is so damn good!!
Prime Patrick Roy was like that

Pucks were always hitting him in the chest because he read the play well, had good movement and was able to get to the right spot and square to the shooter

So lucky to have the guy. He is amazing. Still gets very little credit. If he was in Toronto or New York he would be on billboards and magazines. Just saw a tongue-in-cheek funny commercial last night about tipping(restaurant gratuities, but had a bunch of goalies complaining about puck tipping), and it had guys like Swayman, Markstrom, Saros, Oettinger, etc in it. The "elite" goalies. Guess who they didnt invite? The best one on the planet.

I really like that commercial. The NHL has stepped up their commercial game this year. Don't think I've seen any funny ones since around the 2004/05 lockout.

the level of disrespect the media, journalists, and out of market "experts" give the Jets is Appalling!!!!!

#1 in the league, Reg Wins, ROW,GF, PP%... Tender with the triple crown of stats and the most wins. most wins in the calendar year, top line (Con,Schief,Vil) outscoring ANY top line in the league...... 2 guys in the top ten for Goals two in the top 15 for points, 2 in the top 11 for Assists...

crickets.

A leaf scores a third period goal in a 5-2 loss and it's 45 mins of How good Marner is or some BS.... but The Jets? not worth talking about. if they do mention them? it's because they HAVE to for the score, or when they win a star of the week.... other than that? it's don't even mention them....-

TSN... "Are the Golden Nights the biggest threat to the Oilers in the West?"

or worse... If they do mention the Jets? it's negative.
"Attendance woes"
"Is Hellebuyck playing too much for the Jets?"

this is beyond a farce.

I absolutely love it. The fact we don’t have that group of puppets gushing about us just to sell more soap or gambling spots is another great part about having such a good season so far. I love flying under the radar!! We don’t move the financial needle for them so we don’t count. Underdogs all the way boys and girls!!

I was a Hellebuyck defender, from early on as well. I can recall after the 2016-17 season, many wanted him gone, or relegated to Mason's backup. That season would prove to be an outlier, as Hellebuyck statistically have done better than average every single season for 8 seasons now.

Mason was brought in because the Jets themselves weren't convinced Helle was ready to be the starter. They certainly weren't paying Mason 4 million a year to be the backup

On the one hand, goalies are voodoo...but OTOH, Hellebuyck had about as solid a track record of elite play at every level going back half a decade at that point and his worst year was better than Paverage.

Other Goalies are Voodoo mystical, confounding, and wildly erratic unique procedures and "results" for every practitioner

GNP wanted to trade him the first time Brossoit played here. He had a couple of bad games in a row and he wanted him gone.

*Certain playoff series excluded

(Lol)

My biggest hope is that the org doesn't see the need to push for the Presidents Trophy and wisely rests Helle down the stretch so that he's fresh for April

The way he plays goal i don't know if he would get tired like some other goalies but i'm down with anything that brings the Vezina Helly to the playoffs.

I can't remember any chorus of doubt/disappointment in that 17 season. It was a little below expectations after the outstanding 18 season so I would be surprised if there wasn't ANY criticism or doubt. I don't think it was a lot. Or was it?

In both 17 and 18 Jets used 4 goalies. Helle outplayed the other 3 in both. So even in the down 17 season he played well. Just not quite as well as the year before.

iirc mason was the largest goalie contract that UFA year and ofc began the season as the starter. you're right the Jets may not have been convinced.
