Berrios is at 0.85 ERA. We have not seen a hot start like this from a Jays starter in forever.

I don't remember. Did he have a sub 1 ERA after 4 or 5 starts? But yea, good call on Manoah in 2022. I totally forgot about him.

No, definitely not that good. 1.45 after 5 games in 2022.
After five starts his ERA was 1.45.
He didn't have the benefit of this outfield defense though.

They showed it late in the game... Berrios has the best ERA through 5 starts in Jays history.

Bo, Vladdy, and George all have to start hitting for power. Sub .400 Slug is unacceptable. I really thought Bo would start to heat up by now. Still looking pedestrian out there.
Kind of a weird story. He had, then lost it that one season in 2022, then found it again, then found a totally different gear this year. I hope he continues to pitch like this. Obviously he won't keep a sub 1 ERA all season, but hopefully somewhere in the 2s would be great.

Maintaining an era in the 2s is pretty hard for any pitcher, especially if you don't have elite stuff. He'll probably settle in the mid 3s which is totally fine

His D is incredible. He has hit the ball for a week now. He’s still f***ing garbage. He’s hitting like .230 after having a hot streak. Would wager he will be around .200 soon enough. For now though he’s been great.

I wouldn’t expect that he’s a .300 hitter or what he’s doing is sustainable but he’s made obvious changes and was on fire in the spring. Should be a bit open minded that his changes are working and he’s not “garbage” anymore. Getting to a fastball up in the zone yesterday for the homer is a great indicator

I don't really love this because it seems wasteful to DFA and trade him instead of optioning Francis when they've been pretty equally bad.
The only explanation I can think of is that Francis is younger and this season has had (in their limited appearances) better strikeout numbers and has been more impacted by BABIP than White, both of which would probably tend to bode better for a rebound, whereas the pro-White side of things is largely "he was really good for the back half of last season in Buffalo) and that could be a bit of a mirage that only serves to demonstrate that he's a AAAA type of pitcher at best.
Or that they had some sort of agreement with White where he would get his shot to start this season but if it didn't work they'd let him move on rather than stick him back in the minors. DFA-and-trade would be an easy route for that because it would end one of 3 ways: 1) he gets claimed by another team who gives him a shot, 2) he elects free agency after clearing waivers and gets to sign elsewhere, or 3) seeing that (1) didn't happen and (2) looks likely, the team trades him somewhere just to get anything in return rather than lose him for nothing.
And I guess the biggest thing is that fretting over which of the two underperforming arms gets the role of lowest guy in the bullpen totem pole is kind of pointless.
