Pretty typical late additions. With years of experience, I would say that waiting players from the first round is not worth it.You would also think that there would be at least another goalie of NHL status. Good team regardless.

I don't know if he needs to stand on his head. On paper, the defense is as good as anyone's. The same can of course be said about the offense.

Oettinger could still be the missing piece if Dallas gets eliminated. Otherwise, it's quite a shame that Lindgren, Primeau or Daccord aren't here.

Yeah but hows your 5 player defense as a whole, with those forwards?
 
I really like this squad.

Good top D's in Werenski and Jones. Young ones in Sanderson, Hughes and Vlasic. Experience with Petry.

Massiv and quite young top 6 with Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Nelson, Caufield, Boldy, Zegras. Veterans in Hayes, Gaudreau.

Prospects in Smith, Leonard etc.

The biggest minus is at G where they only have Lyon.
 
They should have taken Gabe with them as well. It could be a loss for the WJC team if Smith and Leonard are great.
 
Wow, no Connor and we lost Larkin. It always seems this way, we have the chance at a great team and seem to never quite get it. Nelson and Hayes are great adds, especially Nelson. Knew a few kids would be here as well, but goaltending is still our potential weakness. Eyssimont played well here last year, noticeable speed and solid away from the puck, need a guy or two like him here. It could have been great, but it is more than good enough to finally get us to a Gold medal game as is.

As much as I want to see Dallas win today, I imagine we all should be rooting for them to lose. Oettinger and Robertson are the biggest possible adds left. Both legit names for the top tournaments upcoming. We have 2 roster spots left...we can dream right?

On a separate note, as the roster stands, the entire starting lineup is NHL players. Guys who spent most of the season minimum in the NHL. Smith and Leonard are here to be complimentary pieces but talented enough to step in and take a spot if needed.

Smith, Leonard, Cutter, etc playing also is great for the culture moving forward. We need a band of brothers who answer the call...looks like we have that with these birth years...
 
One bonus is we have a pretty long team, especially on defense. We also have an even split of RHD and LHD, which is great since we've been buried at this tournament before due to not having any RHD.
