If I recall, he was going to play for USA at a World Juniors and Canada raised a big stink about it with the IIHF with the usual "THEY'RE STEALING OUR BOYS" gripes, and since Canada effectively is IIHF, they didn't let Walman play, so he just say out because Canada cut him after being the ones to make a big stink about how he has to play for them. While Jake Walman is still thinking about who he would play for.
Well in Europe this tournament has way more significance, in fact it’s the most important hockey event in Europe, or most important tournament of the year in general in sports for some European countries. Most teams are assembled throughout the year and there’s more pressure from public and media about who goes and who does not.I agree with you. There is also much less time to make a decision, which can be difficult after a disappointment. Sometimes you see that some European players have said that they are avalable if they are eliminated. In many ways, I don't like this either, because everyone has to be fully focused to succeed in the playoffs. That's what they get paid for.
I wrote about this earlier in this thread. USA Hockey should make a policy that the team is made up of players who don't make the playoffs. Commitment is also expected from them. If you make it to the playoffs, you don't have to think about this tournament.
- Prove that he has participated for at least two consecutive hockey seasons and 16 consecutive months (480 days) in the national competitions of his new country after his 10th birthday during which period he has neither transferred to another country nor played ice hockey within any other country. Female players need to have participated on a consistent basis for at least one hockey season and have been member of the new national association for at least 12 consecutive months during that period.

The Walman Ruling made no sense.

Acquiring a new national eligibility (The ‘two-year’ case)
When a player has changed his citizenship or has acquired another citizenship and wants to participate for the first time in an IIHF competition representing his new country he must:
- Prove that he has participated for at least two consecutive hockey seasons and 16 consecutive months (480 days) in the national competitions of his new country after his 10th birthday during which period he has neither transferred to another country nor played ice hockey within any other country. Female players need to have participated on a consistent basis for at least one hockey season and have been member of the new national association for at least 12 consecutive months during that period.
They said he hadn't completed 2 seasons... but where does the rule say anything about "completed" seasons? If it was the IIHF World Championships they would have said, yes that's fine, it's a completed season. But instead they said because the 2015-16 season was ongoing that means he hadn't "participated for at least two consecutive seasons".. but that's nonsense. He had already "participated" in the season. If he never played another game that season, he would have "participated" in it because he already had.
I demand equality!
You are right about this. However, the comment was a reference to last year when he couldn't decide between the USA and Canada and then he did not go with either.
LOL no it wasn't. They arbitrarily decided the rule wasn't the rule and made up a different rule that makes no logical sense. Reeks of corruption and cronyism. What a moronic post. The rule was followed as written and worked exactly as intended.
Very true, only here to talk about team USA and to destroy any and all enemies of Ryan Lasch. The end.Not gonna lie, it would be dope to have a thread that's not a dual citizen pissing match.
Especially not worth tanking a thread over Jake f***ing Walman

Well maybe they'll let Ryan, at least, practice with the team just to be nice.I'm too upset to even post about the Ryan Lasch snub

My real concern is Quinn being fired. Now he has time on his hands.
I'm sure some genius GM in the NHL will find a use for him soon.
Overall it is on point if not even better with the balance we have with our defense. The defense we are bringing so far is better than anything I can recall prior. Goaltending is still a question but we will at the very least be serviceable in net to win. Some say this is maybe the best usa roster ever but how about the 2019 World championship team it was pretty stacked with Eichel,Kane,Gaudreau,Werenski,Kreider,Larkin and some players like Jack,Quinn Hughes who of course weren‘t the players they are now but this team seems to have a lot of players that would‘ve been on a USA best on best roster IMO back then. What do you guys think?
On a totally unrelated note, come on down Woll & Knies!!!
