The issue with Patches is finding a taker to take 50% of the contract. It sounds like we don't have the right picks for some other team to take 1m.

I know he isn't wrong, but this is also probably the Ranger FO of telling some of the teams out there who probably want more than they're willing to give up for what ever is left over to calm the F down.

The rental market was ass cheeks this year for basically anything that wasn't right handed defensemen. Holding the bigger chips and either integrating them into your lineup or waiting to see if an actual big fish that does fit shakes loose was always the smarter move.
