I am not sure why you are obsessed with having so many right shots on a pp, it means nothing. In fact, having a left shot guy on the right wall gives you more shooting options. You make a pp to suit your best players you don't go looking for right handed guys to suit a pp. Tampa's pp does pretty well with Stamkos and Kucherov on each wall.
I’m not looking for righty shots. I’m looking for a righty shot in the bumper given the other personnel. I’ve been saying it since before Gallant and Kreider also said it.

Other than a reverse hit here & there he plays small.
how do you expect him to play? His game is taking pucks with good stick checks and positioning, not throwing hits. He's really effective at creating turnovers, it's one of the things he's actually damn good at. Takign that away to throw hits wouldn't make him a better player.

Honestly I don't think he's good at much except expending a ton of energy while yielding middling results....but I'd rather see him continue that here then trade him for Crosby's waterboy or anyone else rumored.

Man, haven't really been able to formulate an opinion on Guentzel other than no Kakko or Gabe (or Otter really) but the more I think about it the more I hate it. I'm convinced there isn't a player in the league that can get Mika going outside of McDavid and that's still a maybe. In fact, I doubt he could even handle the pressure of having to make it work with his new winger acquired in a blockbuster. He's a headcase.

I'm back on the bargain bin band wagon.

eh I mean like I said I think he is really good at causing turnovers and retrieving the puck, and he protects it well for the most part, but he can't decide what to do with it and what would help him come off the wall with the puck. I'd love to see if he could use one of those quick turns with the puck to put a shoulder into the defender to get them off balance while he drives to the middle and just shoots the puck. One thing that Laf got this year that Kakko hasn't is ef it just shoot the puck. Stop overthinking and fire away. It just opens some stuff up and you don't fall down the rabbit hole of overthinking everything. Once you get some confidence from that then you can expand but Kakko is always dithering looking for something and running out of time.

Still, he could be an excellent third line player for this run, and I still suspect he has more to give points wise in the right circumstance

Question becomes how you figure we have Panarin, Kreider, Perrault, and Othmann all on the left. Even with Laf on the right, it's imbalanced badly.
To some extent you could say that Perrault might have made Othman expendable but realistically down the line Kreider and Panarin are going to be declining, perhaps sharply, in the next few years and likely be gone from the team

I don't understand why people keep thinking this is an issue. Laffy switched and is excelling. Other players can switch. Othmann has been playing RW in Hartford.

If you want to talk about handedness, that's a different conversation.

I have a gut feeling that if it isnt Guentzel, the Canes are moving Bunting and a 1st to STL for Buch.

They are still very much in the playoff race and CAR hates rentals...

Wait that's it for buch? Are the blues asking for like two first rounder and a top prospect and good roster player?
