Flop has been hitting for a good while now. Like I said in March this team would only compete for 85-87 wins and WC spot if Bo was getting MVP votes.

I think it was pretty obvious at the end of the offseason that this team was closer to being a basement dweller of the AL East than a contender. I’m not disappointed at all, this was 100% expected. Garbage team.

5. RHP TYLER BREMNER, UC SANTA BARBARA
HEIGHT: 6’2
WEIGHT: 180

HOMETOWN: SAN DIEGO, CA
Highly projectable, super athletic, burgeoning stuff. That's the menu for Bremner, who turned in a stellar sophomore campaign in the Big West, striking out 104 batters and walking just 21 in 88.2 innings. His stuff took a big jump during the pre-season, with his fastball sitting in the mid-90s with significant carry up in the zone. He should be throwing in the upper-90s more consistently in due time, as he’s already touched 98 MPH this summer. His slider took a huge step forward after struggling his freshman year, jumping into the mid-80s consistently with late bite and sweep. The change-up is unique with high spin traits, though he shows a ton of confidence in the pitch and it dives hard to the dirt in the low-80s, acting almost like a screwball. It projects as a double-plus offering. Let’s not forget that Bremner commands the zone really well. There’s potential for three above-average or better pitches with above-average command. He’s our SP1 right now for that reason.
6. LHP JAMIE ARNOLD, FLORIDA STATE
HEIGHT: 6’1

HOMETOWN: TAMPA, FL
After a rough freshman campaign in Tallahassee, Arnold exploded onto the draft scene in 2024, striking out 159 batters in 105.2 innings to the tune of a 2.98 ERA. Arnold generates a ton of scap retraction in his delivery, but he's on time with his arm and he creates a tough angle to the plate with a slingy release. His fastball rarely cracked 90 MPH in 2023, but he's now into the mid-90s with a very low release height and a flat approach angle that has allowed the heater to miss bats aplenty. His mid-80s slider can be downright diabolical, flashing late bite and sweep. It tunnels well off the heater and he's shown an ability to backfoot it to righties consistently. His change-up lags behind the one-two punch, thrown roughly 4% of the time in 2024 with slight fading life and will need more development in 2025. He'll need more of a tertiary offering to keep hitters off the FB/SL, but the whole package screams starter. He’ll be wildly popular in 2025.

20. Toronto Blue Jays
Malcolm Moore, C, StanfordThe Jays are mostly on college players with Brecht, Malcolm Moore, Tommy White, Billy Amick and Walker Janek mentioned most often, while Gillen is the prep player who's rumored to be in the mix. I have the Jays taking Canadian-born prep infielder Brendan Lawson with their next pick and Louisiana SS Kyle DeBarge is another option who is rising quickly down the stretch.

We're rumored to be in on Kyle DeBarge with our 2nd round pick, which would be a great pick if he actually falls there. Our pick is 59th and he's ranked 67th by MLB.com but he has some late helium.
He's a small guy (about 5'9") who has some similarities to our prospect Josh Kasavich in being a contact oriented infielder that projects to stay at shortstop. Like Kasavich the report on him was that he had a flat bat path and doesn't have a lot of power but this year he broke out with 21 homeruns and a slash-line of .356/.418/.699. I was imagining him as some sort of mix of Davis Schnrider and Kasevich but watching his swing strangely reminds me of Miguel Tejada.

Season should not be over though even with Vlad bad start. McJesus started the seaosn playing like he was drunk last year and the team made the playoffs. Couple of years ago Dale Weise had more goals then Crosby after a amonth and the Pens did not flinch. Despite all the criticism Vlad has been the Jays best position player this season. He's been one of the best player in baseball lately and the team is not winning more.

I was just thinking last night, Horwitz is becoming Soto-lite. His ability to not chase borderline pitches and take a walk really remind me of Soto. Remains to be seen how much power Horwitz will have. I am not equating Horwitz with Soto, I am just saying his approach reminds me of Soto.

Just need to go 46-29 to get to 85 wins. I doubt that is close to enough for a wild card. 2.5% chance odds according to Fangraphs.
