Cedanne is either really good or really awful. No in-between

When the Sox played the Mets, Ron Darling observed very quickly, if you get ahead of this guy in the count, you don't need to throw another pitch over the plate. 138 Ks and 15 walks bares that out.

He does seem to focus better in big spots. If he can be more patient, he won't have to be such a bad ball hitter. Power numbers would skyrocket.

Saw that DP coming a mile away.

ship him off like san diego did to eric hosmer this summer pls.

ill take rafaela as short for a year, which would open up an OF spot next season for Anthony.

Here's the thing that drives me f'n crazy - top of the 10th and the #8 hitter is up. WTF doesn't he even attempt to sacrifice the runner to 3rd ???? If that was Cora's call then he needs a refresher course in baseball fundamentals. :banghead:

Story is toast. He has no business hitting 6th in the lineup.
Agreed and he was a terrible signing.
I would rather have CF at SS and put Hamilton or Romy at 2B.
I do not think Mayer will be ready to play with us at the start of next season, unless he has an awesome camp.
Assuming O'Neill walks and I see Anthony on the team next year, the OF is set for a long time.
We are still lacking a RH power hitter in the lineup. Pete Alonso would be a nice signing and trade Casas for some young pitching?

All he has to do is pull a ground ball to the left side. But Abreu never does it in that situation. It's hard to do when all you know how to do is swing as hard as possible, no matter what the situation or what the count is.

As for bunting, the odds of Abreu successfully sacrificing are pretty slim. Like virtually every Sox hitter, he is terrible at bunting. Only the Tigers have less sacrifices (4) than the Sox (6). Two of those for the Sox were by Reese McGuire and Bobby Dalbec.

The other night O'Brien and Youk were talking about Story as if he was the key to everthing for the Sox in the field. Everyone would better fielders because of his presence. That was just before he dropped a popup (which was ruled a triple) by whoever his relative was scoring the game.

Three seasons in Boston, 150 games played. Hitting .225. On base percentage of .285. 127 hits, 192 strikeouts. For $20 mil a year. In retrospect, one of the worst signings ever.

Zack Kelly has been absolute ASS since the break.

Pitching him 3 straight games isn't a recipe for success either.

Zach Kelly has good stuff

He has Volpe 0-2 and can’t put him away

He has natural movement just throw the bleeping ball down the middle he’s at 96

The only good thing about that inning was it wasn’t in a pennant race

Amazing they are likely to finish under 500

The Cora contract extension is going to be brutal . Wish they let him go
Come on lol

Cora pitching Kelly 3 days in a row while the guy has sucked after the break is unfathomable.

Kelly only threw 2 pitches the night before.

Besides, not like there were a lot of better options.

Slaten pitched 3 days in a row. He got by for an inning.

Martin and Jansen had pitched in the last two games also. But I'm sure the plan was still for them to pitch the 8th and 9th.

The bullpen sucks and in today's game a starter going 6 innings is a big accomplishment. Recipe for a bad season.

Agreed, Kelly was also ahead on the count to Verdugo.

But, he was sent down after the game because you cannot be considered a major league pitcher if you come into a game with a 4-run lead and walk the first batter. Let alone the first two batters. Let alone the 8 and 9 hitters.
