Patriots/NFL 2024 Regular Season: Part II - If the NFL season ended today, the Patriots would have the No. 6 pick in the draft

My issue with Mayo, is that he's making the same mistakes weekly

The worst thing they did was not give him a veteran coach as an assistant.

All I can say is that I feel much, much better about Drake Maye than I did a month ago.

What happens from here -- who knows?

These type of plays should give everyone hope for Maye. Under pressure, buys time in the pocket, finds the open guy, takes the hit to make the throw. Not to mention the arm strength to be moving right under pressure and throw back across his body to the left and hit Douglas in stride. That really is Allen/Mahones stuff

The more I look into the draft class, the less thrilled I am with the Pats' options.

If the Pats pick 6th overall, Travis Hunter is likely gone. It's possible, but not likely that Tetairoa McMillan is still around. Will Campbell and Kelvin Banks are both likely guards in the NFL.

I'm just... underwhelmed by the OT and WR options that high in the draft.

I've been thinking about pass rusher, which is probably the 3rd biggest need after WR & OL, where there are a few ranked in the back half of the top 10 (though can't say I love them anymore than the WR/OT class).

I think the trouble is this year's top 10 are mostly guys who might be in the 10-15 range of a "normal" draft. If you combined it with the 2024 draft, I think I'd have at least 9 players from 2024 ahead of anyone in 2025.

They've got $130+ million in cap space, four picks in the Top 100, and no significant free agents they need to re-sign.

If there's not a dramatic improvement in Year 2, there shouldn't be anyone left to point fingers.
Tee Higgins in the offseason 30 million per?

Swing a trade for a legitimate #1 WR. Maybe swap 1sts with Seattle, toss them a mid rounder and a WR from their active roster. Gives Maye DK Metcalf (35m per?) Tee Higgins, draft a tackle and edge rusher.

One thing is clear, Maye is developing quicker than his rookie coaching staff and this crap offensive roster. He needs real weapons in season 2. And there’s no excuses if it doesn’t happen

so the same as last offseason...
They had a ton of holes, not all of which were filled, but didn't have a QB..they went after two big name WRs and neither wanted to be here to play with Brissett.

This off-season should look much different. Offer Higgins or someone like that the same contract they offered Ayuik and I'd be willing to bet they sign, since Maye has shown he has the ability.

Build the OLine, get a WR1 and the offense looks drastically different.

Swinging a trade for dk Metcalf and tee higgins without giving up a first is not something this GM is capable of.

Agreed. But… Pats currently sit with the 6th overall pick. Seattle sits at 16th overall. That would be a 10 pick jump. If there’s a player there they like. Anyhow let’s not focus on Metcalf. My point is swing a trade with a top wideout whom potentially is rebuilding
