Patriots/NFL 2024 Regular Season: Part II - If the NFL season ended today, the Patriots would have the No. 4 pick in the draft

Draft doesnt have many top talents. They say Hunter is more of a CB than a WR.

McMillan is who id want
It should not be that difficult to hit on a starting player every year in the first round of the draft.
What separates the successful teams vs the have nots is the ability to get starters in the subsequent rounds ( IE Green Bay Packers).
And spend some money on decent UFA's.
Blow up the front office, hire Vrabel to work in some capacity with the team.

You're the head coach.
It begins and ends with you.
You want to hold others accountable? Start with yourself.
This guy is so far in over his head.

I won't fault him for accepting a head coaching position in the NFL, but I will sure as f*** fault the organization for hiring someone who was clearly not ready for the role. Jerod Mayo might end up being a great coach in this league, but maybe he should have been a coordinator first? Guy never even called defensive plays, but now he's in charge of the whole team.

Meanwhile the OC never called offensive plays before!

What are we even doing!??!?!

I understand that, and I do like the player a lot.

But drafting RBs with an early round pick, when you're rebuilding is all time dumb.
RB's are a dime a dozen, not a priority for us.
Better off to sign a UFA, Josh Jacobs, Henry and Mixon are all making 5-5.5M a year, which is peanuts.
We have many other holes to fill on dee and the Offensive line.

Jacobs, Henry and Mixon all make way more than 5.5/yr. Jacobs is $12mil, and I think Henry is around $8-10mil. Not sure about Mixon, but he's probably in that range as well.

All 3 of them are worth every penny, too.....

FIRE HIM f***ING NOW

What can he actually do? He’s not a leader, he’s not a good coach, he can’t speak. Just get him tf out of here

He was an NFL linebacker for almost a decade he probably has CTE!

I think *most* running backs are a dime a dozen. Not all of them. I think people have gone too far to the other side on the position.

Like I wouldn’t pay an above average running back good money in free agency but guys like Barkley and Henry are completely transformative for an offense

That's my thought process since Jeanty projects to be that level of impact at RB. He's also a true 3 down back who can catch the ball and block

Also to take the pressure off of Maye. A QBs best friend is a good running game, especially a young one behind a bad o-line. Anything that takes the burden off him to get all the yards and stops defenders from pinning their ears back on the rush is needed.

I think an elite RB (especially one who can catch passes) transforms an offense just as much as an elite WR does, at 1/2 to 1/3 the price.

Barkley is making around $12.5/yr. AJ Brown? $32/yr.

100% this

IMO it’s a market inefficiency now, RB have been too far undervalued

Excellent comment.
A good WR might catch 7-9 passes a game and a RB get 15-20 rushes and 5-8 catches, way more value with a good RB.....remember what James White did for us as a primarily second and third down RB?

The amount of times Mayo has had to walk back comments he has made in one season is crazy. They just need to pull the trigger at the end of the season. I wanted Mayo to work out but he's not close to ready for this and Kraft's vanity project has been a failure. 4-13 got Belichick fired and unless the Bills rest guys on week 18, this team will be worse than they were last year.

Huge regression on defense and the offense only marginally getting better despite drafting your franchise qb and having another year to add talent while all but one of your draft picks look terrible is what you expect from a coaching and front office staff that was put together for as cheaply as possible.

I wasn't impressed by Marvin Harrison jr yesterday. For a guy that was given the generational tag, he looked more like a guy that is on the same tier as Michael Pittman. Solid wr, will have some 1,000 yard seasons but isn't a true top tier wr. Bowers, Nabers, Thomas and McConkey have all looked like better weapons than him as a rookie and it's not like you can use the qb as an excuse. Kyler isn't great but he's a solid starting qb.

Totally agree, and some of the smarter front offices (GB, HOU, BAL, PHI) are starting to take advantage of that.

I DON'T think that RB and WR should be compensated evenly, primarily due to durability concerns, however the pay gap is far too wide at the moment.
