Nothing is guaranteed regardless of the money or picks. Play to win no for draft picks, They can rebuild faster by signing free agents that want to come here to win.

Worst sport in the world when you are losing every week getting your body destroyed for what?

Winning brings talent in FA, trust in a coaching staff brings FA
Okay but who are you referring to? I don’t think the team is intentionally losing. I think the roster lacks talent and the coaching staff is in way over their heads. Fans here are discussing reality, and reality is right now the team stinks and is drafting 4th overall as of today

The purpose of trying to win every game is to find out who on your roster is worth keeping as you head into the post season. Finding out who is going to fight for a job, and figuring out who's gonna compete and who's gonna quit is a lot more important than whether you pick 4th or 14th.

I'll use Carolina as a good example.....They've got nothing to play for, but the last 4 weeks those guys competed. I respect that. The Bears actually competed pretty hard as well over the past 3 weeks against some pretty good teams. They finally realized that they had a bumblef*** for an Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach, and addressed it.

Pats should have won that game yesterday. The fact that they didn't, isn't a good thing.

I'm not suggesting they lose on purpose --- I'm just saying that I won't be upset if they go out and end up losing 4 more and getting a top 5 pick.

As for their loss yesterday ---- and pretty much every other one --- how they lose only really matters if it's the same guys making the same mistakes next season. This includes coaches, players, and coordinators.

You can learn from mistakes and losses without it making you become mistake-prone "losers".

I do get what you're saying --- but TBH they've got so much payroll/roster flexibility that I'm not worried that losing will become a habit because I think they'll weed out those who they need to for next year.

I don't have a dog in this fight. Not a Pats fan. However I think the evaluation/accountability goes beyond just roster talent. I think NE needs to take a very hard look at coaching and Front Office as well. They've been simply awful drafting players. Including this year. The Maye pick was a no-brainer but man that trade down in Rd 2 to pass on McConkey and take Polk is just brutal and it gets worse and worse each week.

McConkey had 9 for 117....yesterday. Polk has 12 for 87 for the SEASON. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Polk has been healthy most the year as well?

I get that some picks don't work out, but you just can't miss THAT badly on high picks when you are short on talent. Curious to see what the Pats do about that, if anything....

Agreed.

They need talent. The silver lining, seems to be that QB should be set for 8-10 years.

They need at least 3 upgrades on the OL --- and that's if Andrews doesn't call it quits and a legit #1 WR......... But it's definitely possible with the cap space and picks they have.

Good news is that once Soto signs with the Sox -- Kraft, et. al. are going to do what they need to do to keep up with them.

;)

Patriots are in a rebuild. We are being realistic here with the path that's ahead of them to get good again and that is going to take time and unfortunately, losses.
The way they are losing is horrific, that loss yesterday was brutal. If you want to look at it as simple as, loss = higher pick = good, then there is no use even watching the games.

Maybe for you there isn't. I'm being entertained watching Maye and Gonzalez develop and the close games keep me interested enough to see how it ends.

I didn't have as much of an issue with them not going for 2 against Tennessee as I did with them last week when they wasted a challenge on a completed catch.....on the same play that they were called for Defensive Holding.

That was Eberflus-level stupid......

Part of the issue is that there are so many problems, it's difficult to tell which one is the biggest. We could've said that before Belichick was fired last year. And if that's the case, then the safest play is to simply clean house and start fresh.

That's the biggest issue with this past offseason. They went half-measure with the re-org. It's like they trusted that Belichick had hired all the right people (besides the offensive coaching staff) and if the new leadership simply listened to them, everything would be good.

Yes. I found that odd as well. Not sure what the thought process was there.
