Paxton would be welcome addition

Get a legit bullpen guy with closer potential

Hoping for Paxton

Hopefully Cora, Pivetta, Duran etc all hugged him in OF during series

Weird to see this - guess Dodgers are that loaded

Even 5 inning 4.50 is good enough

We need bullpen arms.

Stat
Anderson should of been DFAed a long ass time ago. The guy is trash. Saw that coming a mile away. We should be on a 4 game winning streak.

Inexcusable

Bailey Horn can be sent down too.

Horrible

So which is it?

Do we need arms? That's what Anderson & Horn are.

We need better arms.

That really isn't that egregious of missed call. Borderline pitch with a great frame job that makes it look way better than it was

It was a perfect pitch.

We need arms, starters and or relievers if we are going to make a run.
Keep two of Mayer/Teel/Anthony and pull off a big trade.
Personally I would keep Mayer and Teel as our OF is set for 3-5 years and with the development of Campbell, you could move him into the lineup as a 4th OF / IF when he is ready.

Low and away is the least likely spot to get a borderline call, especially on a pitch with movement in that direction. Regardless of the call, the fault is on the next pitch, no one made him throw a middle middle cutter
Then I suggest you get these.

If the catcher doesn't try the "little league" frame job and just "sticks it" we're possibly looking at strike three. That ridiculous move to the center of the zone is going to draw a ball call more times than not. Really bad stuff.

Wheels coming off, predictably so. The time to invest in this season is long since passed. Might as well hoard prospects til offseason bc the 2024 Red Sox are going nowhere.

Umpire missed the call. BFD. Move on and make the next pitch. That game was still winnable.

Its the Colorado Rockies FFS.

Need arms. Plural.

How big a trade can you make to get multiple difference-making pitchers?

The umpire got an obvious strike call wrong and you are blaming the catcher?

Just read that in Wacha's last 10 starts, he has allowed no more than 3 runs an outing.
Imagine our staff with him and Sale now?

According to sources, there is a strong likelihood the Red Sox get in the mix for James Paxton, who was designated for assignment by the Dodgers Monday. But there will be competition for Paxton's services considering he represents a piece of the puzzle more than a few contending teams are thirsty for - an inning-eating veteran starter who can help a club get to the finish line.

The Red Sox are also looking for a lefty reliever who might be able to get a bit more swing and miss than their current options. All-Star Tanner Scott of the Marlins, who is in a contract year, should be at the top of the list, with the Tigers' Andrew Chafin also a very viable option. Guys like Andrew Nardi (Marlins) and Garrett Cleavinger (Rays) should also offer intrigue. But there is the need to weigh how steep the price will be now compared to a week from now.

Do we really want Paxton?
16.4% strikeout rate ( well below average)
12.3% walk rate ( way too high)
6.03 ERA in his last 8 starts.

In a vacuum sure but if you watched the game and saw the calls the ump was making you would have been able to see it was a BS call.(ball) similar to how refs in the nhl 'set the bar' - if you will... Consistency.

Hell baby

So much for picking a lane.

i think it would be silly to just buy or just sell

This is not a team you go all-in on at the deadline ala 2023 Bruins. Our best years are still to come. It makes sense to sell off some pieces that won’t be around long anyway while trying to buy on some pieces that have control-some sort of RHH bat, a lefty reliever (like Puk), a SP (like Taillon)
