Aaron Dell back on a PTO, along with RD Joey Keane.

Couture, Vlasic, Mukhamadullin, and Askarov missing the start of camp with injuries.

Joey Keane is an interesting name. Not only is he a former third round pick, and RHD, but also played for Warsofsky twice (technically games in 3 different seasons) in his career: 19-20 had a few games for the Charlotte Checkers when Warsofsky was HC there (7 pts in 9 games), and the next season played 24 games for Warsofsky (who had just gone there to be their HC) with the Chicago Wolves (13 pts in 24 games). Also played for Warsofsky's championship team in Chicago in 21-22 (33 pts in 62 games along with 12 pts in 18 playoff games).

So I'm guessing the Joey Keane PTO has something to do with Warsofsky coaching him from those stints and being very familiar with him. Might even go as far as to say that Warsofsky trusts him on the ice.

Kostin - Celebrini - Toffoli
Eklund - Granlund - Dellandrea
Goodrow - Smith - Zetterlund
Grundstrom - Wennberg - Kunin

We basically have four 3rd lines but they're the kind of 3rd line you'd hope to have on a championship team.

Celebrini and Eklund might be able to upgrade their lines to 2nd line status by the end of the season.

It looks like they want some size to play with Celebrini and Toffoli, which rules out my idea of Eklund on that wing.

I like the idea of Zetterlund attached to Smith. He is the perfect F1 complement to Smith.

I would love to see Musty make team. His size and skill combination is so intriguing and I do think he has NHL caliber offensive skills that will translate in the right opportunity. He could slot in any of the top 3 lines as a size and skill complement to Celebrini and Toffoli or Granlund and Eklund. I think the best place for Musty is on Smith wing.

I would love to start the first 9 games with:

Kostin - Celebrini - Toffoli
Eklund - Granlund - Dellandrea
Musty - Smith - Zetterlund
Goodrow - Wennberg - Kunin
Sturm, Grundstrom

Maybe it’s because last year had no depth but scratching Sturm and Grundstrom feels wrong but there is just a lot of NHL caliber depth without even mentioning Graf, Bords, Gushchin, or Bystedt.

I see 3 top 9 spots up for grabs. I think the top 9 locks are:

_____ - Celebrini - Toffoli
Eklund - Granlund - _______
_______ - Smith - Zetterlund

It will be fascinating to see who shines in camp and takes those spots.

If we can get three 2nd lines going, that was the old Vegas model, very dominant mind you. Of course, they also had speed and forechecking out the wazzoo too.

I'd say the same about the Granlund line too. It has 2/3 of our top line last year (which admittedly was like a lower tier 2nd line). I don't think there's much drop off (if any) from Zetterlund to Dellandrea.

Zetterlund 52 points 58 games as a 22 year old in the AHL. 19 points 34 games as a 21 year old. Dellandrea 50 points 68 games as a 21 year old. 28 points 82 games in the NHL as a 22 year old.

They've basically just moved Guryev and Furlong (who are both in non-contact jerseys) from Group C to Group A, because Group A is not scrimmaging today.

Guryev still being hurt from that one incident late last season is wild.
Remind me again what the injury was? I had hopes he could turn into a bottom pairing Dillon-esque player when he was drafted, but I don't think he's nuanced enough for the NHL unfortunately.

You can see it at around 2:10 of this video, it's a bizarre injury.

Guryev's got a lot of interesting tools and you can see why he got drafted. He's big, skates well and hits like a truck. Unfortunately he's also a bit injury-prone, has little offensive upside, and then there's his most egregious weakness: He's an absolute moron.
