I don't believe potential impact bats should be dealt for pitching basically ever. There's way too much volatility with pitching now.

Use Sale as an example. That trade worked for BOS because they clearly didn't believe in Moncada and dealt the right guy. But imagine if they dealt Devers++ for Sale instead.

You potentially don't win the WS in 18 without Devers at 3B, and you gave up a 30/100 guy for two years of Sale, and then 4 injured years years before dealing him.

If their target is Crochet, there is no acceptable scenario that Anthony should be involved in that deal.

This Soto stuff is hilarious

Steve Cohan wants him it’s done

You falling for Soto

There is 0.0 chance the Red Sox sign him
Not getting my hopes up, but outside of money, why on earth would Soto go to the Mets over Yankees or even Boston?

He's the face of the franchise if he goes to Sox, strong DR roots and history, they'll be competitive starting this season assuming all the talk is for real.

Yankees, he has easily the next 3-4 season of being a legit contender every year in the AL, they always spend.

Mets outside of Lindor have no value to him besides Cohen offering money.

Anthony does not have to be included in a trade for Crochet.
We are the envy of many teams and have the talent to get him if we want.
Abreu is expendable, so is Crawford and some lower level prospects should get the deal done.
I agree with you, no way I am trading an impact bat, like RA ( everyday player) for a pitcher that has had one good year in the majors.

Sincere question.

How accurate do you feel his assessment is?

His much is an old guy being pissed about how different a young guy is handling something that his generation would have.

There’s got be some truth in both.

Hirooka was the man who revolutionized how training in NPB is done and has trained/developed some of the best players in NPB when managing the Saitama Lions' dynasty of the 80s and early 90s. He's also seen it all when it comes to players going over from Japan to the States. He has knowledge about how this will all go, typically speaking.

As soon as that pipe dream Soto has passed, they should quickly shift their focus on to Snell and Fried. I'd take both, but Frieds GB tendencies gives me a little pause considering the bad IF-defense behind him. If they were to sign him and Bello in the same rotation, they should seriously re-consider their IF structure.

Might be awhile.
