Not the same obviously but when the infamous pizza throwing incident happened at Fenway...that is technically assault isn't it? Yet I will laugh every single time I see that clip the rest of my life. When you realize that Mookie Betts is ok I think it's fine to have some fun with it. They are obviously morons and don't deserve to sit in those seats for a long, long time. Maybe never again. I just think we can cool it with assault charge discussion. That's all. But hey I am sure if the Dodgers/MLB/Mookie wanted to pursue that they could certainly try.

Biggest loser on the planet is stunned to learn about "consequences."

Problem I have is, check out Mookie’s wrist on the reverse angle. He could have very easily fractured or at the very least injured it

This is a good point. I laugh at the pizza toss, too. Yes, it's technically assault, but as you point out, it's not the same as someone grabbing the glove of a leaping outfielder and another reaching over and grabbing his other wrist. I'm not going to "cool it" just because you don't like it. This could have ended badly for Mookie and the Dodgers. I'm glad he wasn't hurt. Sure, we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief that he didn't get injured. We're going to shrug our shoulders and say, "Oh, well. He didn't get hurt, so let's just move on."? What happens the next time? And there will be a next time because this is the next time from the last assault on a player by a fan. Most people know that this sort of behavior results in lifetime bans. Do you think lifetime bans are going to stop morons like those two? To be fair, some don't care about being jailed for assault and they do it anyway. That's not a reason to turn a blind eye to it. I'm sure the Dodgers, MLB and Mookie could pursue it. They shouldn't have to. The Yankees should have more respect for MLB players and do it.

I don't think these buffoons were thinking at all. I don't think it was a premeditated idea they had walking into the ballpark where they were willing to accept the lifetime ban. They just lost their minds in a moment where ball was near them. 99% of fans don't react like these guys did.

Flaherty isn’t the guy I’d spend big money on at all. Let him stay in LA where he’s happy and let them overpay.

Dudes a headcase and has an injury history. Some of the things my cardinals fan friend told me about him turned out to be true and are a major red flag.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he got shelled tonight

Mets demolished him the second time they saw him this post season. I fully expect the Yankees to come back and make history and relegate my Mets to the abyss again because I can never have nice things (sports wise)

I also think intent and end result probably come into play. Intent was for these morons to protect the shield of the Yankees and rip a baseball out of opponent's glove to prevent an out from happening. No intent to hurt Mookie Betts and he didn't get hurt. If Mookie gets hurt on that those guys are in for it.
