L'Heureux really made a statement at the end of last season. Some might argue it's not a big enough sample size to say definitively that it made him a candidate to join the Preds in the upcoming season, but he must be getting very close. It's nice when a prospect stakes a claim like that and exceeds expectations.

Amazing how fast perspectives changed on Molendyk and we are likely to see how opinions have changed on Wood as well. It's hard projecting guys, that's for sure.
Could be that or people are just that impressed by L'Heureux' playoff performance so that this vote isn't really a knock on Wood (pun not intended) but an appreciation towards ZLH.

Recency bias will always be part of rankings. Wood did play for a pretty lackluster team last season. I expect a rebound this season. If he doesnt then ill start droppin him down but L'Heureux certainly impressed this season.

I think recency “bias” is actually really important in terms of monitoring prospects. Guys who are taking steps and making progress vs expectations/draft pedigree do deserve to rise in the rankings relative to others who had more static seasons or failed to progress as much.

It can all change again the next season too. These are data points on a curve. You watch the slope and extrapolate, but there can certainly be outlier seasons in either direction that skew the extrapolation. Still, that’s the data we have up to that point, so it’s what we go with. If new data changes the rankings the next season, so be it.

It’s better than just continuing to rely solely on the hopes attached to draft position when the player was 17 or 18 years old.

It has its place. Especially for prospects that have been in the pipeline for a while that are on the verge of no longer being considered prospects. But at the same time the better older prospects like L'Heureux and Svechkov should be outperforming the younger guys like Kemell and Wood. That comes with maturity and growth. But still tryin to take into account the individual players growth is important as well. Kemell did really good for his age last season. L'Heureux pretth much same thing. That's why im not bothered in the slightest by the way the vote turned out. L'Heureux is a menace to other teams even when he isnt putting up points. I still think Kemell has the highest potential but L'Heureux is a beauty as well
