Yeah no need to feel jaded this year. Amazing players get drafted in the top 5 all the time and we already have a great young group

The Twilight Zone
Though I'd love to have a Loops on this team again, honestly. His four-goal game in the PO is still up there for the most iconic Ducks moments.

I always liked him, albeit he's a luxury piece as opposed to a core guy. But pretty good pick in a shaky draft year. I wouldn't be surprised if this draft turns out similarly, with a lot of high picks not amounting to much. If that happens, even a Lupul like career might make Eiserman stand out as one of the better picks.

There's also years when it's just not that exciting a group, and the next talent dropoff is well after we pick.

I mind because it feels like we fall all the time lol. Just once I’d like to have some draft luck.
We did have luck last year when you think about it. Obviously it would have been nice to get Bedard, but the odds were always against that. We did actually win the draw for #2. Now, maybe we would have still gotten Leo at 3, but you never know.

But as to this year, yeah like others have said, I think if we're not at #1, I don't think it matters where we draft. We would probably take the same player at 2 as we would at 5.

I still want to win #2 so we can get 'our guy'. Levshunov is the guy I think we are after but we would need some luck to get him. If not him then I think we end up with Silayev or Yakemchuk

This so much. I'd rather have the ability to have choice than to have that choice taken from me and the possibility of that player taken away before your pick.

Imagine if we picked #3 last year and "ended" up with Carlsson, then most of the board wouldn't be onboard before the season. At least with when we picked Carlsson #2, then that changed a lot of people's perspective to wonder what they were missing on Carlsson.

Czechia have just gone up 2-0 on Sweden late second, really nice shot off the rush by big Adam Jecho. There's some intriguing skill there for a huge right shot forward.

Jecho is nice player….

Would love him at the Boston 2nd…. But I imagine a team will take him higher

I’m hoping for one of Skahan or Jecho to be available at that pick, may need to spend a fourth and move up a bit to get one though. My mock targets right now look like.

ANA 1st: Levshunov, Celebrini, among others
EDM 1st: Sennecke, Hage, Jiricek
ANA 2nd: Letourneau, Emery, Gridin
BOS 2nd: Skahan, Jecho, Shuravin, Vanacker
3rds: Mustard, Stiga, Zether, Wetsch, Brunicke, Surin, Ustinkov

Someone on the mock draft forum did a big draft and has us getting

4. Carter Yakemchuk, RD
29. Cole Beaudoin, C/LW
35. Will Skahan, LD
58. Adam Jecho, RW/C
66. Melvin Fernstrom, RW
68. Jacob Battagia, RW
79. Eriks Mateiko, LW

4. He had us pick yakemchuk over levshunov…. Which would be shocking

I'm not a fan of Skahan. Got the size and tools for a two-way D, but the production isn't there. Emery, who is known as a shutdown D, is going far higher than Skahan. I'd pass on Skahan for someone else.

As for Emery, Tankathon has him going one pick ahead of us to Chicago at 34th overall. Consolation prize is Tankathon has RD Badinka coming to us.

I have emery as a target too, look at the targets for the Ducks second rounder.

I don’t mind skahan at Boston 2nd or our 3rd if we miss out on guys like Emery , elick and badinka

There are more talents available in the 2nd and 3rd than Skahan such as Alfons Freij (who ranks one spot ahead of Badinka in CSB (EU) final ranking) to RD Sebastian Soini (who ranks 17th in CSB (EU) final rankings and is four spots behind Bakinda).

Emery ranks 39th in CSB (NA) final rankings. Skahan ranks 56th in CSB (NA) Final rankings, one spot behind diminutive Cole Hutson.

Jett Luchanko might be an option for our later first, he's been a big riser throughout the year and has stood out for Canada at the U18. He plays with a ton of pace and desperation, something we definitely need more of. He was the best overall skater in the CHL top prospect game testing. But unlike most young speedsters, he actually has great vision and makes a ton of really savvy decisions to improve his team's standing. Led his OHL team in scoring as a 17 year old. Right now his skill level falls behind his skating and smarts, but that's something that could improve with a couple more years of junior. Being a high end skater with a high end brain, is a really interesting base to start with. I can see him becoming a very useful and well rounded support player. Put him with two of your better players and he can be the guy that does all the little things while helping to push the pace.
