I actually don’t mind his list tbh, especially if it’s more based on where he thinks they will go, not who is most talented.
Yakemchuk at 3 if we’re at 3 is a very possible pick
Pronman is the guy with the most accurate mock draft a couple days before the draft. He definitely have sources to know what is up.
I like Yakemchuk early and would be happy if we took him.
Lindstrom will go earlier than he has him ranked. Even though he has been injured he is a big elite C and they always go early.
Badinka in our range which is promising. Hopefully we can get him with Oilers pick.
Elick already out of range for us which shows that these big D are likely going to go earlier than predicted on draft day.
Pronman's list is based on who he thinks is most talented. Pronman's mock draft isn't based on his list; he'll alter his mock at the last moment to look "more accurate" - which is what happened when he altered Fantilli going to the Ducks to Carlsson going to the Ducks. That really isn't a mock, but reporting what is going to happen.
As for Yakemchuk, I don't think he's a good fit with the Ducks. He's all offense, defense is far behind, and isn't disciplined. Yakemchuk has accrued 120 PIM in 66 games. This is in Yakemchuk's third season in the WHL. Anaheim was the most penalized team in the NHL this season. Why would we want to invest in a player who's supposed to be a top-4D not playing on the ice due to being very penalty prone?
- Yakemchuk
- Games = 66
- Points = 30g + 41a = 71 pts
(5th for WHL d-men; high is 90 pts)
- +/- = -6
(tied at 144th for WHL d-men; high is +47)
- PIM = 120
(3rd for WHL d-men; high is 124 PIM)
- Dickinson
- Games = 68
- Points = 18g + 52a = 70 pts
(4th for OHL d-men; high is 96 pts)
- +/- = +56
(2nd for OHL d-men; high is +58)
- PIM = 30
(tied at 91st for OHL d-men; high is 128 PIM)
- Levshunov
- Games = 38
- Points = 9g + 26a = 35 pts
(9th for NCAA d-men, high is 50 pts)
- +/- = +27
(6th for NCAA d-men; high is +36)
- PIM = 44
(25th for NCAA d-men; high is 75 PIM)
Anaheim already possesses OFD's in Minty, Zell, and Luneau. We need more defense and discipline. If we can get both offense and defense from a D, then that's much better. Yakemchuk, at this point of his career, is all offense.
- Minty from game 21 - 63: 43 games, 17 pts, and -19 rating
- Zell since his last call up from March 1 (game 5) to present (game 25): 21 games, 8 pts, and -8 rating
- LaCombe from game 21 - 70: 50 games, 12 pts, and -10 rating
We need balance on our blueline with playing defense for our future. So finding a top-4 d-man who has a higher defensive aptitude should be a higher priority b/c most teams don't give away top-4 d-men (unless you're the Ducks).
