BTW: I want the sharks to bring back Chmelevski. hes been excellent in the KHL and never got a good look here. Hes 24, entering his prime and would be a good flyer to take.

Eklund, Smith, Celebrini, Musty, Haltunnen, Chmelevski, Graf, Bystedt, Edstrom. Its alot of young talent and doesnt even include Gushkin or Bordy or the #14 pick.

Chmelevski is rumored to be signing another KHL contract.

It's possible that he could be an NHL bottom six forward, but I honestly never want to see his face again.

Whatever happens, I will trust the process. Grier has direct contact with both those players. He has access to all the coaches, scouts, and psychologists in the world. And, or course, his brain holds the secrets to the Sharks's future plans. If the players don't come over this year, it must fit the long-term plan.

Work your magic, Grierā€¦

The two of them going back to college next season wouldn't be the worst outcome. It's not my preferred outcome because I would want to see them in the NHL next season learning and growing but them going back would almost ensure another top selection to add considerably to them, Eklund, and Zetterlund as a young core group.

Iā€™m greedy so of course I want to see them both in the NHL next season. But there would be no downside to letting them play out one more season in the NCAA.

1. Trade 14+33 to Ottawa for 7, get Buium
2. Have the three best players in the NCAA
3. Get another top-5 pick, grab a top defenseman in 2025
4. Convince David Carle to come coach
5. Profit

I can dream.

And heā€™s not saying itā€™s confirmed, heā€™s saying that thereā€™s chatter out there. I believe it.
Im sure he told everyone in and around Boston he was coming back after his season ended.

Things change. Hes playing in a tournament right now against "men" , the Sharks fortunes have changed. A new coaching staff etc.

We will see, its not something to stress about.

Totally, Iā€™m not stressed either way. It would be nice to have some fun players next year though.

I totally see the benefit of both of them going back to collegeā€¦ but man it would be a brutal season again. Iā€™d take Musty on the team as a consolation prize, thoughā€¦

The Sharks might as well just send Randy and Drew out to Boston for the season to call BU and BC games, then, since those would be more pertinent to the future of the team than Sharks games themselves!

I'm okay with both Smith and Celebrini not playing in the NHL next year if Grier thinks that's the best for their development. Grier and the next coach are professionals hired to determine these things so I trust their judgement. One more year of suck could net us a top-5 pick, possibly even James Hagens. 1 more year as a basement dweller could mean 10+ years of greatness for the franchise.

Yes, it will hurt for fans to go through another year of this but with no Defensemen and no Goalie, expect us to be bad regardless of having Celebrini here or not. It's a team sport and we have way too many holes for 1 man to plug. But picking high-end talent at the end of the year is the reward, like we're experiencing with Celebrini right now.

I think it's emotionally hard to watch this team be terrible for another season WITHOUT any of our top-end prospects on the team. We'll do it, but I think feeling like another whatever year is going to be brutal.

For what it's worth, I think Grier is ready to put both Smith and Celebrini on the team. I think the ball is in their court.
