It's feeling like Lindstrom. Lots of risk attached to a top 5 pick but WTH.

How about rolling the dice again with the 26th? Jesse Pulkkenen, anyone?

6'6" over-ager. Late bloomer. Hard-hitting but with soft hands.

Madden’s interview made it sound like the Ducks really liked Silayev but I don’t know. Anaheim has a plethora of young D (Zellweger, LaCombe, Mintyukov, Luneau) plus Fowler/Gudas under term.

I think they could take Demidov at 3

Ducks have more forwards and they are all left shots.

All the defenseman you are talking about other than Luneau are offensive inclined. They could absolutely use the size and stopping ability of Silayev.

If Ducks go forward, it'd be a right shot guy in Sennecke and I don't see them doing that with Silayev there.

You guys don’t have to worry. The Hawks aren’t using a 2nd overall pick on a winger they never scouted live over a 6’2 RD that they’ve seen 20+ times and interviewed/taken to dinner. Plus he has an infectious personality. There’s just no shot they don’t take Lev.

I also can’t see Verbeek taking a forward, it’s the last thing they need.
I think more than anything it's the total lack of size within their forward core especially what they have lined up for the future

Bedard, Nazar are 5'10 tops each

Then there's Oliver Moore that's 5'11 and Reichel that's 6 feet but very slim

Team building is as important BPA and in this case I think they had to see Demidov as an absolute and undisputed 2 to draft him. While not as undersized as their core, another 6'0 guy in their top 6 might not cut it.

You can compensate with a below average forward core by having a massive D line and when your main player is Bedard you might as well start building that around him right now

I think Chicago might have Levshunov, Silayev and Lindstrom as their 2,3 and 4 honestly

2. Chicago Blackhawks: Artyom Levshunov, RHD (Michigan State, NCAA)

I really wanted to take Ivan Demidov because I truly think he’s the second-best player in this draft. But the sense around scouting circles is Chicago will go with Levshunov, who fits a need perfectly in the system and isn’t far away from playing in the NHL. He’s got everything scouts want in a high-end defender – size, mobility and puck-moving skills, just to name a few quality traits.

- Steven Ellis

The rest of his mock is conjecture and gives Demidov to Ducks at 3 but he's just doing it for fun.

From McKenzie this morning regarding Lindstrom’s injury/health:

Teams have been supplied with Lindstrom’s medical report, which respective team doctors have been analyzing. No one is suggesting it’s necessarily a red flag, but scouts say their teams are still doing their due diligence to be totally comfortable.

“I don’t believe it’s going to be an issue at all,” one NHL team head scout said. “But you also understand why teams need to have confidence and clarity.”

It doesn’t seem as dire as it was being made out to be.

Once upon a time I loved the idea of drafting him. Now? It's worrisome for sure.

If the Habs do draft him I'll assume that they've done dilligence on him up, down and sidewise. The idea of Lindstrom is great. But I hate the idea of taking a player and then worrying if he's going to be healthy enough to play all the time. Esp when we've already got Dach.

Waddell is gonna screw us when are hopes are high...watch.
If they're comfortable with Lindstrom's back, they absolutely need to consider him especially if they like him

Fantilli was moved to the wing and the word was that clearly think he's better suited as a winger, then they have Gaudreau and Laine (still there)

Johnson isn't tracking to play the center position either, it's Jenner and Sillinger, that's all they have from a certainty perspective there at C

While Fantilli can come back and lock it in the middle, it's no done deal, I think they will have to consider Lindstrom long and hard unless once again they see Demidov as being closer to Celebrini than he is to Lindstrom but that doesn't seem to be the going POV

We're not getting Demidov. He's comfortably #2 on Bob's list and I don't think the #2 guy on his list has ever made it to the #5 pick.

Michkov went 3 slots lower just last year. So it's possible.

We just need Ducks to go D at 3 if Chicago is going lev at 2 then we get Lindstrom or Demidov. It's a great scenario for us that could play out.

Personally i just roll with whoever they feel is BPA. Mainly cause im not even an armchair scout. Many keep making definitive conclusions but it arrogant to think we know how this plays out. Fun to discuss but not going to write off any player in the top 10.

I have my preference as Demidov but thats all it is based off hearing elite talent. If its Lindstom vs someone you believe could be a first pairing defenseman, i lean defenseman as im just not sure you can risk it. I personally dont see a number 1 defenseman in MTLs pipeline but thats just me so im ok with this. You sort it out later. Defenseman tend to have a lot of value anyhow.

Lindstrom you hope it pans out and is healthy. It does have the potential to be a homerun but at what risk

I think Chicago will go D-man also. It takes d-men a bit longer to develop so they need to get them in their system ASAP to coincide with Bedard's timeline.

First there will be a meltdown here if neither Demidov nor Lindstrom are available at 5, then there will be a meltdown here if we end up with Linsdtrom . . . even though most of us, the "silent majority," will be more than satisfied if we have to "settle" for Lindstrom.

Would love to see the Habs get a second top10 pick and grab sennecke/Iggy/Catton/One of the better Dmen in addition to Demidov/Lindstrom at 5.
The cost of another top 10 pick in this draft would be prohibitive. We’re probably talking about trading Guhle in that scenario. I don’t think many Habs fans would be cool with that. I can’t think of anything else that would get a deal done. Matheson, Savard, Beck, Barron, Harris, Kovacevic, 26th overall aren’t pieces other teams would be interested in for a top 10 pick. I don’t see it happening.

Admittedly I didn't have time to watch enough full games this year to build a list like I usually do so it might be why I don't seem to have as many players I love as in other draft, but from what I've seen there's only 5 guys I LOVE this year:
Celebrini
Demidov
Catton
Dickinson
Buium

So I'd obviously be a bit disappointed with anyone else but I would understand and support anyone from the next group of players that I like, but will show cautious optimism:
Lindstrom
Helenius
Iginla
Yakemchuk
Levshunov
Sennecke

I am already prepared for the following events to unfold on the 28th of June:

View attachment 886247

Martin Lapoine : "Nick, Columbus just took Lindstrom. We are picking after the commercial break. Demidov is on the board, so is Iginla, Buium and Dickinson. Who are we going with"

Nick Brobov: "I think Sam Dickinson and Buium have the potential to become fantastic defenseman".

Kent Hughes: "Aren't we already loaded at LD tho?"

Nick Brobov : "Always go for BPA Kent. Remember Reinbacher last season: see how he performed last season in the last 10 games with the Rockets?"

Martin Lapointe : "He is right Kent, I think those defenseman are too high profile to pass on. I say we pick the first on our list".

View attachment 886246

Kent Hughes: "With the 5th Overall selection of the 2024 entry draft, the Montreal Canadiens are proud to select, from the OHL London Knights: Sam Dickinson".

View attachment 886252

Sam Dickinson: " I am so proud of being part of this historical organisation. I compare myself stylistically to Kaiden Ghule, I can't wait to meet him and learn from his experience".

You almost got it down, just switch Dickinson with Yakemchuk to make sure the entire fan base is riled up (for different reasons) :naughty:

I’m moderately concerned with the most recent move by Detroit clearing space with the Walman trade. I see Gibson as a fit with Detroit and Detroit has young D’s to trade back to Anaheim which will then open the door for them to pick a forward.
